Really bad story on Gregory

Charles Haley reviewed really bad info on Gregory and how far Cowboys are going to help him.

"I come out there to help him [Gregory], and he tells people he wants to fight me. So I'm done," Haley said. 'okay you don't have to do this for long. Call me. You can come live with me.' But you know what? You're going to do A, B, and C [if you're living with me]. But he don't want to do it, so *** it.

The five-time Super Bowl champion went on to lament the way the franchise is coddling the second-year Gregory. "Jerry and them baby him by putting somebody in that house with him," Haley said. "They never made him be responsible for himself. Maybe the best thing for him is to be free. Because you know what? At the end of the day, at the end of the year, you know Jerry and them ain't going to keep him around, so I don't understand."

I operate under the mindset Gregory isnt on this team, and I've been doing so since he first got the 10 gm suspension. Nothing surprises nor bothers me with this cat. Look at the season we're having, he could have played a major role but it wasnt that important to him. He isnt a Cowboy in my eyes.

You don't go to these lengths for someone that has ZERO NFL sacks. His "talent" is not worth this much consternation

He signed a 4 year deal and as long as he is suspended, you don't have to pay him or have any cap ramifications. You might as well hold onto him until that deal is up to see if he ever straightens his life out. If he doesn't, you cut him and you haven't lost anything. If you cut him now, you run the risk that 2 or 3 years from now he's recording 12 sacks in another uniform.

Right - and you never know, but NFL could change its policy...

Yup. Gregory is just immature. He's done hope he can maintain a 9-5.. oh wait most of those jobs drug test now.. darn it

He will probably work in one of Jerry's operations like the DT with the car accident

Gregory's interviewing skills are great. That's why we took a chance on him. He knows how to sound mature and sincere.

He's just lazy and doesn't want to actually be a grown up. So yeah, I'd be done with him too.

There may be some merit to Haley's comments on 'babying' players. I'm wondering how much the Cowboys have invested research into effective methods of counseling.

Haley speaks from experience, but he's not a mental health professional.

I would agree Haley had his issues but I will also say I agree with his statement of babying Gregory and some others. Cowboys can't baby sit players, they have to be responsible for their own action. I think it is fine to have people to council players people who players can go to but there is no way you can have 24/7 supervision on any person. Gregory is a grown man and needs to stand on his own 2 feet, this is more than football this is his life because one day and that day may be coming quickly he will no longer be in the NFL then what? he has to be able to function as an adult.

Great. Another 50 page Randy Gregory bashing thread.

This. Just shows how much the fanbase was invested in him, despite the clouded and veiled insults. All the responses are thinly veiled criticisms hidden behind great disappointment and expectations.

Everyone had hope for him and he let a lot of folks down -- on an antiquated, out-of-date marijuana policy. It is what it is, he should have known that good ol' boys run the league, and therefor abstained from the weed. He let weed, perhaps, ruin his promising career. Sad that some damn weed can do this to a player of his potential in the 21st century. Shades of 20th century prohibition and the WCTU.

And you folks that knee-jerk reply to me, read my post carefully so that I don't have to repeat the same thing over and over again.

He should have just drank a bunch of booze. Or slammed his oxy, like half the league does, he would have passed every drug test. ****.

Gregory, meet Gordon. Have a spliff on me, brody.

We better go hard on DE.
