I said it over and over in the game thread. Running routes short of the marker on third down is unbelievably stupid. Yet we do it over and over so it must not be a mistake.:mad::mad::mad:

My biggest concern, re: Dez, is the amount of single coverage he is seeing, and not beating.

He's healthy enough to play but clearly is not 100%. Just have to hope he has no setbacks during the offseason and is back to 100% next september.

My biggest concern, re: Dez, is the amount of single coverage he is seeing, and not beating.

He is beating it Cassel can't throw. I know he dropped some passes but he has been open, same thing with Williams.

It's 3rd down with maybe 30 some seconds on the clock. Witten runs past first down then right towards the sideline, Williams lined up on same side runs a streak. The 2 defenders guarding Witten and Williams run into each other and fall down leaving both guys wide open. ......who do you throw it to.

Cassel threw it to Witten and got the first down which Witten was able to tip toe sideline before stepping out of bounds and stopping the clock. ....we didn't get any points.

Cassel should have seen that and hit wide open Williams streaking down the sideline and if doesn't get in we at least get a FG.

These are the types of mistakes we are dealing with at QB. Just because he didn't get a pass his way doesn't mean he isn't beating single coverage or getting open.

The goal line int. Cassel should of hit I believe it was Williams wide open in the corner. Cassel throws high to Dez which gets picked off

I don't see Jason changing, it's the same version of air Coryell offense that we've struggled to execute. A strong run game helped with Murray here, along with Romo most likely checking out of whatever the original call :)

McFadden isn't a jumbo package runner. Murray was good in the jumbo package because he runs with power and is good at being patient when he needed to be patient. He would also do a stutter step and hide behind the pile and then find a crease to get thru.

Part of the jumbo packages is you have to have TE's that can fake the block, release and catch a pass. I don't think Romo is really the QB for it because he isn't tall enough and doesn't have an overhand throwing motion like a Brady does (who is great at the jumbo package, throw to the TE's). I also think that has generally been Witten's weakest part to his game...his ability to feign a block and release in short yardage. Escobar and Hanna don't see to be adept at it either.

I disagree with them trying to force that package and even worse...running it every time. Mainly because the personnel isn't really there for it and I have to question the TE coaching that we can't find a TE that can do it well.

That's coaching. Yet another failure.

Or better yet, toss the hard drive into an incinerator.

The Cowboys offense is like the big, athletic dumb jock who is completely out of place at a school dance. Out of its element. Don't know what to do, where to turn and how to maneuver. No moves, no rhythm and awkward socially. I'm glad Aikman in a round-about way called out the staff by saying the issues go far deeper than just not having Tony Romo.

As much flack as Weeden gets, the fact remains that the best half of offensive football the entire year was engineered by Brandon Weeden in the 1st half of the Falcons game. Outside of that half, the results have been spotty regardless of who's at QB including Romo. The only difference with Romo is his superior mental/physical talent is able to overcome the garbage being fed to him from the sidelines and put together enough TD scoring drives to mask the STINK.

The play-calling and scheme is poor and unimaginative. For instance yesterday, We hit the big gainer to McFadden on the fake fly sweep-action to Lucky. AND WE NEVER GO BACK TO IT THE ENTIRE 2ND HALF!!!!

Who the heck runs button-hook patterns anymore? And if you run one, why is it 3 yds short of the 1st down marker on 3rd down?

Can we please call patterns hitting the WR in stride running either away from the DB or hit him running upfield?

Blaming the lack of offensive production mainly on Weeden/Cassell is lazy and a cop-out. If anything the backup QBs have exposed the frauds we have sitting, standing and clapping on the sidelines. This whole thing needs to be scrapped.

No WR screens, no shallow crossing routes, no play action, no rub or pick routs. All the things that create first downs and the biggest passing plays in the. How do these fools still have a job?

How is not Cassel fault when he is missing guys wide open. I counted many times last night when Cassel didn't go to the open guy. Our recievers were getting open. .....Cassel didn't make the throw. Took sacks when not needed, throws too high, throws to low, throws 5 yards away from reciever

QB play has been a huge problem. ...correct that number 1 problem on offense

Very simple. The head coach tells you not to take any chances and make sure not to lose the game for us. Its a created mentality. So everything high, low, or just out of reach because he is being too cautious. He would rather not make the play than throw a pick.

Bull his throws aren't even close. Stop making excuses for Cassel. He has been horrible and it has nothing to do with coaches telling him where to throw. ....wide open guys with no defender around. ..

What about taking both Dez and Williams off the field and leaving Lucky and Street on? Why not just tell the other coach you are running the ball. And forget the fact that Dez can help take a safety off the box, why would you give that advantage away? What are they trying to prove?

Stupid.

The only time I saw Dez doubled yesterday was on 3rd and long. Other than that, he was single covered by a rookie for most of the day and was shut down, some of that was on his own, because he couldn't catch. So it wouldn't matter if they put me out there, no safety was coming to double cover the WR on 3rd and 1. Now you can blame some of that on the coaching, and I do. But Dez on the field or not would not have mattered one bit how the D lined up.

Being open is also a matter of where one is in the route progression, particularly since this is a timing-based offense...

A WR expects the ball at a particular time, not when it looks like he's 'open'.. The QB expects to throw the ball at a particular time...

With Weeden, yes.

With Cassell, after that Giants game, you can't blame the staff. The problem I have is A. Pulling Weeden and inserting a guy with no chemistry, and B. going that long with Weeden as the backup and then going into panic mode with desperate decisions.

Its a total lack of creativity and imagination........95% of use fans watching from the couch can guess what play is coming just by looking at the formation, players in the game, and down and distance.

You telling me that you just cant plug any RB behind this offensive line and it will purr like a kitten? That Murray actually had talents and a skill set specifically that fit this offense that other RBs just don't have?

How can this be? I was told a million times during training camp and preseason that any RB could run behind this oline.....so confusedo_O
