As I wrote in a response yesterday, here are the only players that are keepers next season, either based on contracts or recent draft picks:

Ez, Kneeland, Osa, Clark, Marist, James, Overshown, Bland, Revel.

Everyone else needs is replaceable. You can get cap savings with June 1 releases of both Diggs, Hooker.

1) need to find with right DC, right scheme moving forward and stick with it. Cannot keep on firing your DC every offseason and have the players learning and fitting into a new scheme. Hire a DC and add players that fit his style of defense.

2) must use all resources, fa, draft and trade market to improve the overall talent.

3) try to accumulate as many draft picks as possible, perhaps trading back to add more selections. They need a draft like the one Parcells had when we had two first rd picks: Ware, Spears, Burnett, Canty, Ratliff.

4) must stop targeting all world athletes, but rather high IQ, instinctive football players.

1. That DC just can't be Matt E. Too simple of a scheme to run. Don't need a Rob Ryan overload, but I just can't see a vanilla scheme ever working unless we had stars everywhere.
2. Pipedream, but agreed.
3. Don't disagree, depending on the draft class. Top heavy or depth.
4. Agreed. They and other teams get fixated on athletes, and thinking coaches can mold them. The draft is about projection, but IMO some eat the cheese too much in pro-day/combine data, and ignore on the field issues.

If we are talking long game, I try to use a 1st this year to get a third 1st in 2027. 2027 is supposed to be legendary. Id try to use our pick to slide down.

You arent looking at the big picture which is the people to properly pick the scheme, stock the roster, and coach them up arent in the building right now. And I doubt they will be this off season.

I am leaning towards a young, innovative type like Adams, but for the defense. I don't think there is any chance, Eberflus survives.

Where I really dont like that is that style of defense is known for system players. You draft system players, and you fire him after 2026, are those players still any good?
That's a fair point. Dallas has a foot in both worlds, though. They brought in a system guy without the system players. They can't keep flipping back and forth on defensive philosophy. They stayed consistent on the offensive side of the ball with the Schottenheimer hire and it worked. There appears to be no plan on defense unless the plan was to trade Parsons and struggle this year so they could turn players over and be strong next year.

1) I strongly suspect Eberflus will be the DC next season if for no other reason than you can't keep firing your DC every offseason.
In the past, when it has gotten so bad, they have made a change: Nolan, Rob Ryan, etc.

You know this franchise doesn't think that way and won't wait a full season on future picks.

yeah I think you might want to tweak this list a little, OSA can go, Kneeland can as well

extended for 5 years with a PROMISE that he'll be more open to make changes in his philosophies

You are stuck with Osa next season due to his contract. Kneeland is still developing but his time is starting to shrink, has to make an impact next season.

That's true and they probably should again. Jerry is supporting Eberflus, though, and has made comments about how having 3 DCs in 3 years is his fault.

I personally felt bad for Bridges, #25 to be hung out like that......the Coordinator did that to you.

As an organization, a decision should be made as to what scheme you want to run. Then hire coaches & acquire players who fit that scheme. Stick with that scheme.
