Doesn't bother me. We've got alot of folks who lurk and don't post. Good vibes make people want to share their happiness with others...or in his case disappointment in the midst of the good vibes.

the one thing he said I totally agree with is this.....the playoffs are a new season....we cannot wait for him to change his number this offseason....he needs to make a change now....it will erase a lot of the talk if he has a big postseason....this does not mean he doesn't have things to work on this offseason...but it would get the media off of his back and give him some confidence going into the offseason...and increase his trade value:)

Roy has always been a hitting safety not a cover safety. He would tackle either with a straight hit or cutting the legs. He never really would wrap up when he tackled, as he gets older and he prolly wants to prolong career, the reckless form has gone. So now you have a player a shell of his former self.

They're all idiots, haven't you heard?

The source of the consternation here is that too many poster are overzealous in their criticism of Roy Williams.

He doesn't "suck." He's not a bad safety. However, he is rapidly becoming an average one, which isn't the expectation for a player drafted in the top 10 overall and paid like one of the best safeties in football.

In fact, when I rank the the Cowboys' defensive players, Roy isn't even in the top half. Please note that the following rankings are only my opinion.

1) Demarcus Ware
2) Terence Newman
3) Greg Ellis
4) Ken Hamlin
t-5) Jay Ratliff, Chris Canty, Anthony Henry
t-8) Roy Williams, Bradie James
10) Marcus Spears
11) Akin Ayodele

Roy (in my limited opinion) isn't even one of top 5 starters on his own defense yet he's paid like a game changer - a player whom offensive coordinators generally scheme away from because he's capable of making plays in every facet of the game: run defense, pass rush, and pass coverage.

In fairness, legitimate game changers are very rare, and Dallas seemingly has the luxury of having two such players: Ware and Newman. Ware is frequently sacking quarterbacks, chasing down running backs with his back side pursuit, and even knocking down or intercepting passes. Newman's prowess is pass coverage is well known, but his abilities as a run defender from the corner spot are often overlooked. They enable him to play the slot position in nickel packages.

Williams, however, seems to excel in certain facets of defense yet becomes a liability in others.

It just isn't a good day for us Roy apologists.

First, Laughenburg, Newy and Casillas and now this from Matt Williamson, ESPN scout:

Again, another name added to the list of haters.

Doesn't Williamson know that because there's a supposed "dearth" of safety options, that Roy is still great? I mean just because someone can't "name a better SS" doesn't mean squat! How could he suggest such a thing?

Don't worry, I'll email him and ask him to provide "evidence" of his ridiculous claims. Just one piece of evidence.

who ever claimed Roy was great? You don't exactly have to be great to make the probowl as an alternate. Who exactly do you think is a better strong safety in the NFC?

What the freakin' hell... No Jacques Reeves at number 2, behind Ware... and Ware would be my #1, only because I heard that Stanback's stint at CB is going to start next year...

To be honest, at one point in time Roy Williams was great.

Again, he is a solid player that has some weaknesses.

But there were seasons where the man was just great and it really had very little to do with big hits.

I am sure people will go run to NFL.com and look at stats but I base alot of my evaluations on what I see.

How could I forget about Reeves? We all know he's an infinitely immeasurable improvement over Anthony Henry.:p:

(a) This is untrue. Roy hasn't played like a pro-bowler THIS season.

(b) Jonathan Ogden, Donald Driver and Walter Jones haven't played like pro-bowlers for two years - does anyone care?

(c) I noticed that they neglected to name Roy's replacement. I'm almost positive they have no idea who Quentin Mykell and Sean Considine are, or how terrible Atari Bigby is.

Who cares?

Roy himself said on the Jim Rome show that as he gets older he can't, on every tackle, deliver the hits he used to deliver and that he had to protect his body.

The bottom line is he just doesn't want to get hurt and his play reflects it.

Bobby Carpenter isn't a starter.

I'll just leave it at this, if Roy Williams was even remotely as bad as alot of people here say he is, he wouldn't be starting on this team, year after year. Obviously, the people who see him every day have a different and more informed opinion than the potatoes on this board.

Don't make me run down the list of every game starters this team has seen come and go in the last 10 years.

I would never question your love for the 'boys and their success. Wouldn't be on here if you didn't.

I think that's been obvious, though I hadn't heard that he said that.

I remember when Parcells first came to Dallas, he mentioned that TEs and safeties take the most punishment of any players on the field.
