I want the ball to start the second half. It takes away any chance for them to get the last possession of the first AND the first possession of the second.

If they open the game with a TD that gives you 30 more minutes to answer than if they open the second half with a TD.

That's pretty much why I would always defer.

I don't know why they even flip a coin to start the game. The visiting team should always get the choice. With 8 home and 8 away games, it would even out. Cut the formality and play the game.
