Tolbert was a 3rd rounder. If it makes people feel better let’s go WR in the 2nd. Cooks was inexpensive and barely a number 2. If your looking to find a WR in free agency, look for one maybe coming off an injury looking to sign a 1 year “prove it“ deal.
I don't want a receiver in the second round. I want a DT and RB in the first two rounds. However, we also do need a better No. 2 receiver to complement Lamb. My hope is that we go after someone like Stefon Diggs. He may want to play with his brother and might fit the cheaper mold that the Joneses like because of age and coming off injury. However, he had 47 catches for 449 yards in eight games last year, so he may still price himself out of whatever the Joneses would offer.
My recommendation to draft a WR in the 2nd or 3rd is me going with the theme of the thread. My point is, if the team is wanting a #2 WR or whatever that’s the spot they need to look into taking one. Number 1 should be defense. Personally I believe this draft needs to be mostly defense for the first 2 days. Diggs potentially fits the mold or what the team is looking for if he is willing to sign that prove it deal. I can see that happening.
I think we should go early after a running back and not wait and mess around like the position isn't important. The Joneses tried to convince us it wasn't last year and then we saw players acquired in free agency who were integral parts of their teams' success.

If we go WR in the 1st, it will be same ol' same ol'. The insanity will have to stop at some point. Skill positions don't win super bowls, trenches win super bowls. Subpar trenches will negate your skill players.
I'm not opposed to that way of thinking but unless they actually address a couple of holes in free agency itll be same ol same ol either way. Thats the big issue is this team has more holes on the roster than they can fill via the draft. When it comes to the draft you really should put yourself in position to select BPA. I think just hitting on draft picks is way more important that targeting certain positions.
The funny thing is no matter if they sign a guy or draft a guy, at some point there will be tweets about receivers not getting separation

I do agree with this. We used a fourth on Mingo from this draft. There's no need to use another pick, unless we just don't go get a No. 2 receiver in free agency. Handing the job to Mingo would be a very Cowboys thing to do. I want to see Mingo fighting it out with Tolbert and Flournoy for playing time. Our top three receivers should be Lamb, Free Agent/Trade and Turpin.
I like to think of the GB model at WR, they have a group of like 5 guys, none superstars but they are all decent. Cowboys have a superstar, so can these other guys just be decent, at least.
I don't know. The only one who has really shown anything is Turpin. I'm hesitant to just rely on the rest, which is why I prefer with add a proven No. 2 in free agent or by trading a late-round pick like we did to get Cooks. Obviously, if we do use a late-round pick for a trade, that is the quality that we can expect ... but it's likely the quality we'd get in FA, too, since we know the Joneses won't spend much.
