Receivers Not Getting Open

They showed them once or twice, and it showed an absolutely terrible scheme. They basically ran out a few yards and turned around. It was disgusting.

That is been the route combos for years now. Not like it was any different last season.

If you are going to run that offense your QB has to be accurate and get the ball out on time. Neither seem to be a good fit with Dak's skill set.

There was nowhere for Dak to throw the ball.

Quit whining like a ***** about receivers. Everyone deserves some blame. The receivers got open several times and also had some troubles. Dak made poor throws on many throws even on completions (and not just to avoid coverage). Neither Dak or the coaching staff trust him to make plays downfield. It limits the offense. He was not very accurate in hitting the receivers today.

This is not new. It happened frequently last year whenever a defense had some success shutting down the rushing attack.

That's part of it also.

No reason to polarize. We have several problems on O.

Jarwin has to know to find the empty space and work backwards. That's a tough throw to hit on the run.

I thought that too. Dak threw it away from the coverage that was coming over the top. Jarwin was doing a "Run Forest, Run" into coverage instead.

At least on the plays they showed, the "scramble" play of the WRs was weak. "Don't just stand there, move!"

At WORST 8-8? Well you may be right, but at this point I wouldn't bet the farm on it. The defense played pretty well, but the offense is soooo dysfunctional. They'll need to do some serious improving to win 8 games the way they looked tonight.
We’re mediocre at worst or typically. I became a cowboys fans the year we made Chan Bailey coach.thats 2 decades worth of witnessing mediocrity. I know that his team. We’re 8-8 at worst. We didn’t get a good preseason season Goethe with the entire offense and it showed. Our defense is good. The offense had nowhere but up to go. Only thing I’m really skeptical about is the kicker and that’s only because he’s unprovened. But Zeke will break out and the offensive line will play better and Dak won’t be as bad as today “ALL” season

that's all Dak can hit. stationary targets, well sometimes, or a guy running completely open like beasley across the middle. then he's not scared to throw the ball to them.

Someone pointed back to Dak's combine profile.

What we're seeing is a replay of his college years, as meticulously *documented* in great detail in Dak's combine profile. It's like the guy was watching the last half year while he wrote it.

Ugh.

WEAKNESSES
Beat up this year thanks to poor protection. When he wasn't being sacked, he was being hit hard. Not as competitive a rusher in 2015. Sacks and usage in run game might be taking a toll. Increase in short pass attempts from 86 to 208 this year reason for higher completion numbers. Accuracy on intermediate and deep throws dropped sharply. Pocket poise has been compromised. Hyper aware of pressure around him and lacks awareness to slide and find temporary shelter to make throw. Concern over pressure too often trumps ability to get through progressions. Must speed up the pace of his reads. Footwork is a mess. Slight stride onto stiff upper leg with little weight shift. Restricted follow through and too often tries to muscle throws with upper body. Throws to target rather than leading or throwing them open on short/intermediate throws. Too respectful of underneath coverage and must be more willing to challenge the defense. Needs to improve anticipation.

naw it's not blind homerism like you. His scouting reports were dead on. You see it each week. Slow on reads, when pressured the reads are even worse. Pocket awareness is atrocious. Not sure if it's pure fear or what, but if the wr isn't completely open by yards he hesitates to throw it to them. This causes bad passes either in the dirt, behind or over the wr's head.

where's that qb guru that you claimed would fix his bad footwork.. lmao.. hey show that preseason pass.. that was awesome

Luckily, we have Kellen Moore on board to fix all this.

I'm a Dak fan but there were plenty of open guys. Dak juts panicked and had a hard time finding them early in the game.

The game sucked. It truly did. On the other hand out defense really showed up which we haven't seen in forever.

More importantly, the offense started clicking some toward the end of the game. If we played like that the whole game we could have came out if it with a W.

I know you guys will focus on the negatives. That's reasonable. There were plenty.

But we will be at home against the Giants next week. Their defense doesn't appear to be as god as ours and their one good player (Beckham) will be what we need to focus on.

Barkley won't hurt us and Eli isn't as mobile as Cam was. The Giants are just what he DR ordered to get us back on track.
