That's not true at all Z.

Parcells said it first and said it often.
Dez, Aikman, Garrett, Witten, Owens, Gurode, Murray, MB3, Dat....and I bet many, many more that I'm not thinking of.

I forgot Darren Woodson too.

Here's a quote from Woody (one of my all-time fav players):

"
On Romo’s work ethic:

“They can say what they want to say about Tuesdays him showing up and finally being involved. He’s been all in since the day I met him. He is an absolute gym rat. He wants to be there learning and understanding everything. That’s Tony. That’s the guy I know, and that’s the guy I played even at a young age so my expectations of him are extremely high this year."

This thread has gotten out of hand which is fairly par for the course anytime anyone has anything remotely questionable to say about one of our sacred cows. I think some of your points are valid except the one above. Rono's always been described as a "gym rat." I remember Parcells mentioning it as well as others.

Right now, Romo's out of shape and I don't think there's any question it's because of the back surgery. He was also out of shape when he entered camp last year after the surgery to remove the cyst. If you Google, you'll find various reports about Romo's shape (or lack thereof) over the years and even one rumor where Garrett supposedly gave Romo the business about his conditioning which was kind of surprising to me but we can question the veracity of the articles.

In any event, Romo put on 16 pounds last year (or so it was reported). I think that's a red flag for a premiere athlete. Romo is not in the same shape he was when he first entered the NFL and the only thing I find concerning about that is that being elusive is part of his game. He'll be 34 years old to start the season and he's had injuries and what seemed to me to be a decrease in arm strength last season that affected his ability to throw the deep pass. His conditioning is a valid topic but it won't be settled in the off-season after he had back surgery.
Great post!

He does look out of shape a little bit, but what do you expect, I think he'll be fine though.

Why did you put quotes around the last excerpt as if Parcells said that directly. Parcells never said that.

I didn't -- the article did. The article is better proof than what you've provided. But hey, keep on ignoring the rest of the quotes I pulled. Oh look, here's another from Todd Haley, Romo's passing game coordinator under Parcells. Should I keep going?

Chief News said:
“He was the epitome of a gym rat,” Haley said of Romo. “You couldn’t get him out of the building. We had racquetball courts in Dallas in the facility and he and I had a grudge match going every day for months. We were coming out of there… both of us bleeding and hitting each other with the racquet and the ball. He’s just that type of guy – around all the time. It could be the middle of winter and he’d be calling me out on the field and saying, ‘Coach, come look at this: I’m moving the ball this much in my hand; I’m putting my pinkie here instead of here. Will you come watch me throw this?’ That’s what got him to where he elevated himself to.”

13 pages of obsession about Romo's rear end getting a little pudgy. Hurry up draft.

Sheez, this thread is still alive........................If my QB puts up 31 TDs and only 10 INTs, I really don't care if he has a beer belly or not.

Physical appearance has nothing to do with the ability to play the game.

His wife may differ with you but that is another issue. lol

He looks way to thin in this picture. and what is with the tee shirt under the jacket can't afford a nice dress shirt like the other men in the picture. My gosh we will never go to a SB. lol

Didn't brag about my physical state, only mentioned my background, which includes a lot of time in the gym.

For Big Ben, I proved you were wrong with those numbers. Big Ben was a beast of an athlete when he won that first Super Bowl. As for Eli, he looks in great shape here..lean figure, vascularity in the arms, no evidence of moobs or a double chin.

Not really sure I can agree with you here on Eli. Before I can make an assessment as to the validity of your opinion, I must first know which of the three is Eli?

I'll wait.........

lets ease up on the Tony Romo criticism. If his back doesn't hold up there will be plenty of blame to go around. For now lets enjoy a little peace on matter.
