This whole situation with Dan Reeves all goes back to one of the main problems, who is in charge of the coaching staff?
It's reported Reeves was Wade's idea, and he was to going to be brought here to help the offense. Now look at who hired the OC, it was Jerry, and he was hired before Wade. Now, Wade wanted Reeves to come in here and help with the offense. How dysfunctional is that?
We have a HC who thinks the offense needs help and yet he has no control over the offense because Jerry (the owner/GM/dictator) hired the OC.
I know many of Jerry's loyal supporters/lapdogs have clamored on about there not being anything wrong with him hiring assistant coaches and have given reasons why all the ones he did hire are credible coaches and so forth.
But, there is obviously a problem when the HC thinks there are problems with the offense, so much so, that he wants to bring in a full-time consultant to help with it, yet he has no control or authority over the actual OC.
And now going forward, how much tension/conflict/problems are there going to be between Wade and Garrett, with Garrett knowing the HC thinks he needs help with the offense and with Wade not having any control over him?
Not to mention the players all know that Wade is nothing more than a figurehead with no real authority and he's basically only here to run the defense.
Jerry is such an egotistical control freak that he thinks he can just assemble all of the pieces and it'll all just work. But just creates far more problems by doing this. It shouldn't be difficult to hire a HC and then let the coach assemble his own staff and have the players and coaches be accountable to him. But Jerry can't do that. He has to be the Supreme Commander and has to have ALL the power and get all the credit.
Well, congratulations Jerry, you have created one of the most dysfunctional organizations the NFL has ever seen. And have a dozen years with no playoff wins to show for it.
