Uh, do you guys realize that Roy and Ayodele led the team in tackles yesterday with 7 each?

It's hard to punish someone when your avg. at coverage, take bad angles and whiff on tackles.
Troy Polamalu agrees. He's been waiting to hit someone hard all year.

Yeah, but he is still better than Roy. ESPN says it, so it must be true.
Oh, and Hall is better than Newman. ESPN says it, so it must be true.

and actually, there is a play I want to see again cause I think that Roy made a sweet hit.. it was the infamous Plaxico roughing Keith Davis play.. I never got to see the replay of it, cause they kept showing Plaxico drill Davis over and over again, but it looked to me like Roy hit an O-Lineman so hard that it pushed him back and he hit Tiki Barber.. I am almost positive I saw it.. If so, that is pretty dang impressive.. Can someone that has the game recorded check it out for me?

It wasn't that play. On that one, Roy and Henry both came across the line as Barber came to their side. Roy took out the fullback (not a big hit, because Roy was basically standing still), and Bob Whitfeld fell down trying to block Henry. That created a big logjam, and Ware fought off a double-team to make the tackle for no gain. (Ware's initial push caused Barber to go deeper into the backfield as he went outside.)

Roy is my favorite player on D (except for Ware/Newman) and I really don't have any issues with him. I'm just talking strictly from a lay-someone-the-hell-out standpoint.

I know I said this like a million times yesterday, but the Giants were just killing our D, and my blood is boiling in anger and then I see Roy smiling and helping Tiki Barber up and patting him on the helmet after tackling him... WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, MAN? last thing I needed to see at that moment...

I remember last season during the pre-season some idiot on the Texans tried to punk Roy.. then Roy was clearly shown on camera looking at the Texans' bench saying "y'al ****ed up now... y'all ****ed up now" and proceeded to cleaning anyone's clock who came within 1,000 yards of him for the rest of the game

this man can be a monster, we've all seen it.

So when the Giants' D talks **** all week about HIM in particular, and they're killing us during the game and knocking Keith Davis over for no reason and then I see our monster leader Roy smiling and being lovey dovey with people.... screw that

Reggie Bush vs Roy in the open won't yield a big hit and matches up nicely for the Saints. Bush trying to run the ball up the gut or on a sweep...well, I'll take Roy. Remember when Az Cardinal Emmitt Smith tried to bounce it out and met Roy. It was a very brief and painful encounter. Roy hurts!(although sometimes he hurts us in coverage and sometimes our own players.)

On Bush's 4th TD run, he got hit in the right ribs. He stayed down for a while after the hit, before walking off the field gingerly. If Roy gets a clean shot on those ribs, Mr. Bush will be watching the rest of the game from the sidelines.

Not sure I follow you on this one.

Tune in to the other "top" safeties in the league on a weekly basis, and watch them with the same critical eye you watch Roy with. Chances are, within a few minutes, you'll follow. ;)

No I won't. I'm not gonna flame this thread or debate this again for the 1,000,000th time. I have my opinion on RW and you have yours.

If you're watching the same way you watch Roy - yes, you will. Tune into the Ravens and Steelers. Watch Brian Dawkins. Watch Chone Tailor. In any of their games.

If you're being unbiased, you'll quickly see how lucky we are to have a player like Roy.

Name two.

Two on Tiki. Would you like me to tell you the exact play? I would have to watch the game again but one of them was in the back field on Tiki where he just took a horrible angle. One in the 4th qt on Tiki. If you need me to tell you the exact plays and what snap it was on what drive I will be more than happy to do it when I get home from work. I'll do you one better and name you more than 2.

It's not possible - it's what's actually happens. Watch those safeties, you'll see them fooled by fakes, whiffing on tackles (Polamalu being the worst offender) and taking bad angles consistently. It's the NFL - the other guys are getting paid too. They're elite safeties because that happens to them less than everyone else, though. Because they are able to make up for that with game-changing picks, hits, and fumbles, while breaking up passes. You cannot find a more consistent performer than Roy Williams.
