man Peterson is a whiner and he gets hurt like every game, Bush is a man and doesn't whine when he gets hurt, give me Bush. Peterson is too unreliable and he has not proven his hype yet.

I like reading everyone's thoughts.. this is interesting, and encouraging.. Bush is creeping up on AD, though, in the poll voting, but his supporters have been a lot quieter..

and to the guy who said that Bush could have been an every down back-- I dont necessarily disagree with you, but Im just saying that he hasnt proven he can be yet..

oh, and I think that Peterson is happy he chose OU.. I mean, going to the national championship his first year.. having the best freshman season EVER by a college football player.. coming in 2nd in the Heisman voting.. and of course winning a national championship and a Heisman his junior year.. oh, and beating Texas 2/3 of his career.. :D

what?? thats just a ridiculous statement.. if anything, Peterson played in pain all of last season.. he had a high ankle sprain (ala Julius) but still tried to play.. he didnt heal until the very end of the season, after he finally took a couple of games off.. and he STILL rushed for over 1000 yards.. and he carried the rock more than anyone his freshman year..

Ridiculous voting...Bush is so far superior to Peterson it isn't funny. Peterson is way overrated...Bush is the consensus #1 pick in this draft. Do you actually believe Peterson is ever going to be the top pick in the draft when he comes out? NO way....you have to be a special RB with the entire package and home run potential to get it done on any single play from anywhere on the field, like Barry Sanders, to be the #1 pick in the draft as a RB.

I'll take a lot of grief because I'm in the slim minority here, but I won't mind you remembering this thread when Peterson comes out and is just another back in the NFL....Let's not forget there was a time when Maurice Clarett was considered by many to be the greatest young college back in the land.

Guys like Bush don't come along every year. Guys like Peterson do, imo.

Translation: "Who's Adrian Peterson?"

It's obvious you've never seen the man play, he could come out TODAY and automatically be one of the 3 best backs in football.

Freshman year he had 1925 yards and carried the rock 339 times.

Nope - he is a whiner and weak - hasnt proved anything.

Last year - bum ankle and all - 1108 yards on 220 attempts.

Kid tried his heart out to carry OU last year. It just didnt happen. The Sooner OL and QB were terrible. All teams playing OU stacked the box and focused on AD. Even when they tried to shut him down they couldnt.

Ask OSU -

11/26/05 24 attempts 237 yards. 9.9 yard avg / carry

Peterson is a PURE power home run threat everytime he touches the ball.

Bush - great back/change up guy.

Huge difference between the two that most knowledgable fans agree on.

One last post before I leave for the night.

Your not going to get a good poll. The Longhorn fans on this board hate OU and hate on Peterson. They should. He didnt stay home. That hole is huge and not enough water has passed under the bridge to get a fair vote.

Folks will vote Bush just out of spite.

I think Texas fans hate Bush and the Heisman hype over Vince Young just as much.

thanks for the info, that actually makes me feel better really.. I was getting discouraged that Bush actually came back and took the lead in the poll..

see thats the thing, I think that even Longhorns fans can admit to Peterson being the real deal.. for the guy that went on about Bush.. do you really honestly think that Peterson isnt the full package? he is a big strong back with exceptional speed.. a home run threat every time but he can also run linebackers over.. he spins, jukes, has speed, power, moves.. and has proven to be an every down back, unlike Bush..
even though i do not like OU in anyway shape or form, adrian peterson is a mack truck. put peterson in the USC offense and he lights it up like Christmas. i watched him bowl over Oregon in the holiday bowl, and i'd take him over reggie bush any day. AP(oops) will def be a better NFL RB.

USC's offense did light up like Christmas this year. Every monster game AP (Who's AD btw) has had, Reggie has one to compare. Ask ND and Fresno about that. The thing with Bush is he can beat you in so many ways. Like someone said, AP was seeing stacked boxes all season, and his stats show it. Stack the box on Reggie, he goes in motion and goes on a streak and runs by you, then catches the ball for a TD. Not to mention that he can return punts. He may not be doing that in the NFL, but you get Reggie in the open field and he's gone.

BTW, my bias towards Reggie isn't b/c I'm a UT fan, but b/c I live in LA, and have watched him for the past three years. I actually think there's a Pro-AP bias, because he's from Texas and plays in that area, where you can see his games every week.

to all those saying that Bush is more versatile-- that very well may be true.. but do you really think that is gonna make much difference in the NFL? you really think he is gonna be used as a KR/PR or lining up as a WR? no.. and even if he did, that means that his role as an every down back would be reduced.. if anything, it just means that he is gonna be more of a Brian Westbrook or Marshall Faulk type.. dont get me wrong, I think he is gonna be a great player.. but I think that Adrian Peterson (for the guy that asked, AD is his nickname-- stands for All Day) is gonna be a special player, that once in a generation kinda back.. thats why I started this thread.. alot of people are saying that about Bush.. but I think that guy will be Peterson.. Im even gonna make a prediction right now and say the best back since Emmitt and Barry in the mid 90s..
