REGRET: Another Cowboys Draft Mistake??

I'm just wondering what you guys think. I think we messed up when we took Mark Higgs in the 8th round in 1988 since we got Emmitt in 1990. Because we took Mark Higgs, we passed on the player I wanted them to take: J.J. Birden WR Oregon. Plus, we could have traded down 10 spots and still got Birden and picked up a 12th round pick which could have been a player like Brian Kinchen TE/C Louisana State.

Don't you think the franchise would be better off if we wouldn't have blown that pick? I have a feeling we are going to regret it.

I love it! :laugh2:

We still rue the day that we made that mistake :D

Yes we will. Just think what we could have REALLY got if JJ & JJ had them on the trading block also. We would still have all of the Vikings 1st round picks into the next century. :laugh2:

Lol, I like it.

At least to the credit of posters here, they actually claim who they preferred we took over Carpenter, unlike when posters used to claim we made a mistake but when asked who we shoudl have taken, they responded, a LB, a WR, a DT, but no specifics.

CCF:

Actually....I am one of those people. When I watched film of Carpenter, I never got 'excited'. I never saw a guy who I thought would take over a game at any point in his career. He seemed to be an extremely hard worker, well built, a little slow....and...well....bland. I do not know who I would have chosen in his place, but i do know that I would not have chosen him.

I agree with most of the 'critics' from draft day in that I seem him as a 'safe' pick. I expect that he'll have average to above-average numbers for his position throughout most of his career. But I don't think that he'll ever be a household name.

I guess that I'm more of the gambling type (ala Jerry Jones....look where that's gotten us).

Not even close. David Brent is the best character of all time. I like Steve Carell, but Ricky Gervais has the role nailed.

I agree. Gervais created David Brent....a comic genius.

Have you seen his one man show DVD Animals? As I said a comic genius...

If you need your humor to bash you over the head, then yes, the U.S. version is tops.

If you appreciate humor that is less cartoon-like, the kind of humor that assumes the viewer has a brain, then the Gervais-Merchant version is far better.

Both versions of The Office are fantastic. No need to be comedy snobs.

I'm not saying the U.S. one isn't funny -- it is -- in fact, it might be the funniest show on tv right now - but the UK version is just so much better.

I thought it was hilarious. The only trouble I had, was I had to watch the DVDs with subtitles on just so I could understand what they were saying. I saw the first season of the American version first, and I was a little taken back when I watched the British, because I did not realize that tehy did the exact same episodes, same dialogue, and all. Kind of cheapened it for me. But since then, they've had some great stuff. Not as hilarious from sstart to finish as the first season, but a few really great episodes.

I think I've never laughed as hard as when Dwight pulls out his mug in jello. Didn't see that one coming....Jim eating jello - "How do you know it was me?"...."It wasn't funny the first two times, either." It cracked me up for a good five minutes.
