Son of Eagles coach Andy Reid ordered back to jail for missing drug test

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- A son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid was ordered back to jail Tuesday after missing a drug test.
Garrett Reid, 24, didn't show up for a scheduled test on Monday, according to prosecutors and his attorney, Ross Weiss. He is required to submit to random tests while awaiting sentencing on drug charges.

"He called and told his probation officer he couldn't get there," Weiss said Tuesday. "He didn't get there yesterday and he didn't go today."
Reid admitted using heroin when he ran a red light and hit another car in January. He tested positive for a small amount of morphine in August, and a Montgomery County judge barred him from driving but allowed him limited leave from his family's home in Villanova.

Reid's younger brother, Britt, 22, remains jailed in an unrelated case after violating his bail conditions.
Britt Reid was charged in August with driving under the influence and drug violations. Police said they pulled him over for suspicion of drunken driving and found painkillers, amphetamines and antidepressants when they searched him and his vehicle.
At the time, he was awaiting sentencing for a road-rage incident that happened the same day as his older brother's crash in January. Both brothers are scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 1.

Not much Andy can do. Can't baby sit men in their 20's. What ever happened to these boys to make them the way they are was done long ago. All you can do is keep throwing them in jail and making them go through treatment but in the end you can't force adults to stop using, unless they're locked up.

It is why i am glad I not an NFL coach most do not spend enough time with their families or kids. Kids need direction and structure not all NFL coaches are like that but a high % of NFL coaches seems to have these and martial issues cause they are never home always at the office watching film etc etc.

Kind of sad I hope they can get their life back on track

Reid like many coaches was never there for his family.
This is snowballing on him,

He needs to tough love them

Fact, you don't know how much time he spends with them and never is an obvious over statement.

Yes I don't know

But most NFL Coaches work 16 hour days. I doubt he was at most if not any of his kids childhood games, school events and school stuff there. Not a long shot to state these kids had money and no parental reigns, why they are all arrested multiple times and menaces to society.

And at best he failed as a parent here at some level, and thats all that really matters in big picture..

why are there not coaches kids running all around committing crimes then?

under your logic, the streets would be mayhem with children of coaches terrorizing communities.

and if it is true look out because wes phillips is on the staff. He may be loose right now in my neighborhood or many others in dfw.

You can sugar coat it all you want, Reid raised 2 thugs.

Let the doctors figure out why.

I understand your premise, but shouldnt there be more to prove that?

Ray sherman and tony dungy both had a son that commited suicide. Its a touchy subject, but is it either of there faults? I have no idea.

I dont know of any other coaches kids having problems. Most of them I imagine live a good life because nfl coaches are paid pretty well.

I have met Andy and Tammy Reid.

You are wrong. He's a very good guy who despite his workload is there for his family.

His kids are grown and making these decisions on their own. At 24 and 21 years old this is not about parenting.

Just one correction theebs, Ray Sherman's son didn't committ suicide. He fought hard to have that removed. It was an accidental shooting.

Oh I couldnt remember the details it was a while ago.

you meeting andy reid reminds me I saw Chris Canty and his g/f or wife??? at the state fair today...

My wife kept telling me to go get a picture with him, but I didnt want to bother the guy on his day off. I walked by and he saw me staring at him and said hi...

no one noticed him though, he was just mingling around in the crowd, I was suprised!!!

This stuff scares me more than anything; I have 2 kids myself and I am a Cub Scout leader and plan to move up to Boyscouts when my son makes that transition. So i am involved in my kids lifes and I do impact other kids lifes.

I always worry did i do the right thing did I get my point across to the kids properly. Do not get me wrong I love working with the kids but it scares the hell out of me that I did not teach them the right way or something.

Like i I said I hope they get their life back on track and pointed in the right direction.

Reid also has an autistic daughter.

My guess that his 2 sons have a chemical imbalance(which tends to run in the family)-but nonetheless, I can imagine the high amount of stress it piles on their entire family.

Yes it does add extra stress on the family it not always easy dealing with an Autistic child. Yes I have to deal with that as well on a daily basis. It is not all bad it is also a blessing if you take the proper approach and the right frame of mind.

Reid just needs to step down and take care of his home life...

I certainly would respect his decision...

I hate the iggles, but Reid seems like a pretty good guy and his boys are obviously crying out for help...

As much as some of us would hate to admit it here, family is more important than football...

Part of me agrees. That is the family man in me.

Part of me disagrees. If he did the Philly fans would make his boys pariahs and this would impact them so negatively.
