per ESPN, Jaylon was 2nd in NFL tackles in 2020.

154 tackles.

maybe if he stops the “dumb stuff”, he can be #1 in 2021?
The bulk of his tackles are 5 to 6 yards deep on his side of the line of scrimmage. Ideally, you want him to be making his tackles closer to the line of scrimmage if not on the other side. If he were in better position more often, he can achieve this.

sweet.

Make those changes, and he leads the NFL next season.

The Bucs were 7-9 last year.

If you continually have your sights on the future you will not be competitive in the present.

Having some proven vets sprinkled in a young defense is ideal.
the bucs were 7-9. they had a QB that threw 30+ interceptions. that led directly to several of the losses. plus they lost a few games by less than a TD and incompetence at the QB contributed heavily to that.....they had a good defense that kept them in the games....the foundation was there except for QB.....they were way more competitive than the 36+ pts our defense was giving up and struggling to beat a bunch of 4 win teams with their back up QBs....our defense is not competitive. and I don't want to bring in older veterans "just because". we did it last year and by mid season all were off the team....we need to focus the draft on defense. allow quinn one year to implement his system and then see which players are good and have a future and then figure out where we lack and then find the "right" FAs in 2022.....

Meanwhile, we somehow ended up at 6-10 last year despite being absolutely devastated by injuries to starters on both sides of the ball, players opting out for the season, four different QBs under center, et cetera. Why do you think we need to retool like we're the 1989 Cowboys? This team is going to have an influx of young talent brought in via the draft. You need quality veterans on your team to balance that out.

you have to dig deeper. offensively we will be ok when Dak gets back. that was the only reason we were competitive early, despite historically bad defense.

we also played in the worst division in football, where the winning team was 7-9. we also played some really weak opponents with 4 wins to get to 6. the quality of opponents was bad. really bad. when we played against average and above average teams, we were not competitive defensively. we couldn't stop anyones' running game....our defense sucked. no ifs buts or thens. offensively we will be competitive, not defensively unless we have a couple of years of good draft. s

Anybody who thinks they let Smith go really doesnt know this team. The team loves him. KJ wright would have gotten eaten alive behind this DL. Some people have no grasp of the game and how its played. It doesnt matter who was back there with the DTs as bad as they were, and with Nolans ridiculous scheme their LBers were going to get killed. As the team moved away from the the disaster defense they put in week one, the better Jaylon played. Alot more stops at the LOS, pressures and turnovers came his way.

This team has a better chance of some of you bailing on this team, then them releasing Smith. So do us all a favor :)
