Never want Sean Lee gone, but I worry about his long term health. He seems like a really good guy and I want him to have a healthy, long term quality of life after football.

Saw one guy in here call Lee an average player. The only thing average or below average is his ability to stay on the field. His talent is special.

Yep. I remember that post, as well. In fact, I think it was something to the effect of "average at best". At any rate, when someone makes that kind of statement (my other favorite was "Romo can't read defenses), I can only shake my head and feel bad for them.

I guess there are enough people around that every opinion gets expressed, but no i do not remember people wanting him gone.

Last night is exactly why that's a stupid idea.
He is easily top-3 at his position, maybe the best, when he's healthy. I understand that's the caveat, but when you have a guy like that, you keep him and hope he can stay healthy, because he's THAT much of a difference maker. His presence on the field is priceless. Plays every down as hard as the last. Just an incredibly intelligent, instinctual player. Let's appreciate it.

Yes I remember. Fans here everyday make ridiculous statements like that. Big Downer in visiting here.

The ones who wanted Lee gone we're living in the moment. Fans can be fickle we see it all the time here. He gets a concussion so frustration with his injuries leads to let's get rid of him.

When he's healthy he's the best player we have on defense. Many of us didn't think he would last to Dec before being sidelined for the season with an injury.

If he gets injured Sunday some will again lose patience with him and want to move on from him. One day everyone is dumping on a player and the next day they're hailing them a hero checkout the DLaw threads.

That guy who sounds like he's speaking in tongues half the time always includes Lee on his list of players that should be gone.
I try to block out his user name because he irritates me so much. :muttley:

I wouldn't be talking about other fans making ridiculous statements when you started a thread last year calling Lee's season ending injury a blessing in disguise. You sounded like you had already given up on him and wanted him gone. You even went as far as to call him a progress stopper but could never name the player who's progress he was stopping. LOL

In retrospect, Lee's been a progress stopper. He hasn't played even close to a full season yet but is the defacto starter. Now we can move on now in May instead of in Nov or Dec. If you can't see that, then that's your problem.

I don't think anyone wanted him gone. They said that he should retire given his body's history of not holding up for the season. When he's on the field, he's fantastic.

No plenty wanted him gone completely. It has been one of my biggest battles.

I always said the good outweighs the injured but that was getting harder to sell around here.

And I don't buy the progress stopper bull. If you are that good you will find a way onto the field.

If that's the case, then it's not surprising. There's a lot of reactionary posts on this board. People want McClain gone as well... but it seems like both Lee and McClain are really gelling into a solid duo.

Not so sure that people wanted him gone. The problem is that he can't stay healthy and I have no faith in him staying healthy at the end of the season. That brings down his value because now you have to find a suitable replacement to back him up when he goes down.

The other issue for many people like myself is that we are concerned for his health. I would give almost anything to see him healthy for 2 straight years. I think it would be a joy to watch, but I just don't see him staying healthy for 1/2 a season much less 2 full seasons.

Remember this thread next time he gets hurt... It's not hard to understand. Nobody is saying Lee isn't a great player and teammate. But people are saying he gets injured so often that his unreliability has hurt the Cowboys more often than he has helped them... It's sort of like this current "win or lose" dilemma. Nobody is saying they want the Cowboys to lose (except non-fans). But people are saying they want the Cowboys to get the best possible draft pick (especially Romo's successor) if the season is lost anyway.

At the time he was.

How can a player be a progress stopper the previous season and not the following season? What in your mind made Lee a progress stopper last season but not this season? I'll help you out because I know how you tick you were frustrated that he was injured again this time for the entire season and tried turning a huge negative into a positive which has always been your MO. You tried to make it appear that losing Lee wasn't a negative it was actually a positive because he was preventing a player you still can't name from getting on the field. Who was playing behind Lee that would have helped the team more than him?

You don't see Lee as a progress stopper this season because he's on the field and playing great. A teams best defensive player isn't a progress stopper get real! A "progress stopper" is an aging player who's past their prime. That player isn't giving you what they use to give and is preventing a younger player with potential from getting game reps. You won't find a post from you on this board claiming Lee's a progress stopper while he's been healthy and playing.

Yeah, people often overlook that part of an athlete's life; the aftermath.

I'll raise my hand to say I still do want to replace him... One game doesn't eliminate the fact he's brittle and can't be relied on. *shrugs*

I doubt anyone dislikes it when Lee plays. He is a beast, no doubt. He just can't stay healthy. Hopefully his injuries are behind him.
