Remember when the Cowboys traded a 3rd round pick for Drew Henson?

Just curious, does anyone really believe at this point that Lance will be a franchise QB someday? I think the consensus is he will develop into a good backup to Dak one day. If he is capable of taking over the team from Dak in 2 years, that is icing on the cake and puts Dallas in a much better bargaining position when it comes to Dak's contract. But that would be getting way ahead of ourselves.
Kid has all the talent.

Nothing is certain in life.

I’d bet good money on it though.

No, but the Texans did!!! Another sign you are "johnny come lately" Cowboy fan.:lmao:
Brother he's no Cowboy fan AT ALL! He's an Eagles fan who hates our Cowboys, ESPESCIALLY Dak, because Dak owns his team with an 8-3 record against them. It's a burner account too. On his main account he can't be himself, so he uses that (MountaineerCowboy) account to spew his hate. The clown brings NOTHING to the table but negativity so there's a reason he hasn't been banned yet.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think Lance has played 50 games in his whole life, and I wonder, of those, how many did he use a play book? His throwing motion needs work to become more consistent. But he has legs for sure.

Making a trade like this, at this point, without consulting everyone they usually do goes against what they say they do. I hope it works out, I just don’t like how they did it, then how they told everyone who would listen how they did it, all while having much bigger needs at much more critical positions just seems like magical wishing, instead of following their scouting department.
They did all the internal vetting necessary. Don’t buy into the message board hype

How do we know this?

I keep seeing week after week, month after month, aboutboosters here being fans of othe mr teams.

Is there a scorecard somewhere so I can keep track of who is just stirring the pot because of other loyalties?

Na, they didn't trade for a hopeful back up. That's not how Jerry thinks. They saw potential and decided to swing for the fences. It isn't necessarily in spite of Dak, just another preparation for the future.
You are also right. But from what we saw of Lance he is at least a couple years away from being capable of challenging Dak. Cooper Rush, maybe.

It's obvious, brother. He's from Philthy, his profile pic is of their coach. He doesn't do it anymore because he was called on it, he use to post Eagles news here and say things like "Now here is a real organization wanting to win!" He always hits the "Like" button on just about every post of the other well-known Eagles fan here, who's also from Philthy.

Far as the other accusation I made about him. He said he knows for a fact that another member uses a burner account here. Since a very good friend is a webmaster at a Van Halen site on the internet, I know a thing or two about a thing or two, and there's only one way he could know who uses burner accounts.

I wish we just had a sticky post of allegiances

I do and there were many fans who thought he had the potential to be the next great QB.

That didn't age well and is a cautionary tale to set realistic expectations for the Lance trade. I'm glad we made the move and took a chance with limited risk on a young talent, but there's a lot of devolpment ahead. We should all hope he can develop becauase that means the Cowboys added value.

The latest trade got me thinking about Henson with what went wrong there and how the Cowboys can help Lance with a more succesful development?
Heck I recall we were trading 3rd and 4th rounders for WR James Williams and TE OJ Santiago

- I don't think that pick (Drew Henson) was under Wil McClay.

- Second .. Rounds one to three are considered the premium picks, the early rounders ..the ones Jerry has
constantly mentioned during pre-draft press conferences how the club expects starters or major contributor factors.

- Lance was traded for a mid round pick, a 4th rounder,.. at some point we were needing to draft a backup QB
instead of constantly counting on limited Cooper Rush who is only gonna be that more weak armed ,and that much
less mobile and easier to sack. Why not chance a backup QB that has stronger physical tools to work with.
Tools that can hurt and scare an opposing defense.

if we can draft the likes of Josh Ball, Jabril Cox, Reggie Robinson, etc. why can we not invest a mid round,
4th round pick on a backup QB, the most critical position in the NFL ?

In Henson's defense he was playing baseball for bit before coming back to football.

Quarterbacks are always gambles. Most--even the highly prized ones--don't work out. And Lance has lost round one.

I'd loosely put the odds for Lance like this:
5% Lance becomes a great starter
10% Lance becomes a good/solid starter
25% Lance becomes an above-average backup
15% Lance stays in the league as serviceable backup
45% Lance is out of the league within 3 years

They traded for him to develop and perhaps be the long term backup. More upside with him than Rush and Grier combined.

I know so many fans want to make this all about Dak, but it's really all about finding a guy the team can win with and not in spite of in case Dak gets hurt again.
Running QBs make great backups. Because they're cheap you can risk letting them run. You get extra performance w/o the risk to the starting QB.

Get him out of Shanahans system. Damn I wish Moore was still here.
