I have heard that Ball was looking good on the PS, and the Cowboys were most likely afraid someone would pick him up, Plus he might see some playing time if we rest Henry or Newman.:starspin

its motivation, either Newman and Henry get healthy and start playing like All-Pro's, or we bench them for Reeves, and Ball

They don't like his Fanclub President, so they keep suiting him up just to ruin his week.

Given Newman's injury, I don't like this one bit. :(

yeah Me either. especially since i just heard Ed werder on gac say that he thinks newman has been much more injured than they are letting on. he said he is really taped up and moving around gingerly in the warmups.

I didnt see him moving around gingerly in the pregame warmups against gb though.

This is a good move. Ball is young and I think he can play. We need help in the secondary and they've been watching him all season in practice. I heard Wade speak highly of him earlier in the year.. Anybody know what kind of speed Ball has?

We're going to need an extra defensive back to face upcoming opponents in the playoffs, so I kinda like this move.

At the very least they could be seeing how Ball handles the NFL compared to Nate Jones.

Bingo!!! I hate seeing Jones in coverage. He is a pretty solid tackler and blitzer but we need coverage...

doubtful -- Jones may not be great but he knows what he is doing on ST and his cover skills are pretty much what you would expect for a 4th CB.

I heard that, too... It was a little weird to hear Werder defending a Cowboy...

But yeah, I hope TN's foot didn't take a bad setback or something. Obviously something happened to make it worse after (or during) this past game. :(

But as I've said many times, I do like Ball. Maybe they just want to give another corner some work for all the spread looks that are getting so popular with all the good teams. And I do think he'd be a better cover guy than Parakeet. At least he's very rangy and a good tackler.

I thought you wanted every CB to have coverage skills. The only thing Nate has is tackle and blitz skills.

Edit: To punctuate my point, Nate has 2 passes defensed and 0 INTs during his career here, which combined equals how many sacks he has.

He was referred to as a speedster in post draft analysis: CB Alan Ball, CB, 6-1, 176, Illinois (7/237): Ball is a speedster who has the athletic ability to make an impact on special teams and the balls skills to develop into a nickel cornerback. He ran a 4.52 on his pro day, which doesn't seem like a speedster.
