Remi cut...

He was referred to as a speedster in post draft analysis: CB Alan Ball, CB, 6-1, 176, Illinois (7/237): Ball is a speedster who has the athletic ability to make an impact on special teams and the balls skills to develop into a nickel cornerback. He ran a 4.52 on his pro day, which doesn't seem like a speedster.

Thanks dude!!!!!

I heard that, too... It was a little weird to hear Werder defending a Cowboy...

But yeah, I hope TN's foot didn't take a bad setback or something. Obviously something happened to make it worse after (or during) this past game. :(

But as I've said many times, I do like Ball. Maybe they just want to give another corner some work for all the spread looks that are getting so popular with all the good teams. And I do think he'd be a better cover guy than Parakeet. At least he's very rangy and a good tackler.

if we win the next game i think they should let newman sit..

Carolina is not a threat and i hope we rest our starters after the first half of the Commanders game

I thought you wanted every CB to have coverage skills. The only thing Nate has is tackle and blitz skills.

Edit: To punctuate my point, Nate has 2 passes defensed and 0 INTs during his career here, which combined equals how many sacks he has.

So what -- how does that compare to most 4th corners in the league?

ball was the cb drafted or the cb drafted that was converted to safety?

i think that was Brown...

Ball is too small to be a safety

Remember that half the NFL (16 teams) has nothing to play for at this point. Now is when you start raiding other teams PS's for next year.

I have heard that Ball was looking good on the PS, and the Cowboys were most likely afraid someone would pick him up

That could very well be the case. Another team might have tried to sign him off our practice squad, but we didn't want to lose him.

It might have nothing at all to do with Newman, Henry, Reeves or Jones and everything to do with simply not wanting to lose Ball to another team.

I disagree. You would have to sign them to the roster without knowing much about them except maybe some old scouting reports. Would a guy on someone else's practice squad be better than anyone on the current 53 man roster? I think that would be very difficult to determine.

Edit:
Oops, I just understood what you typed. You are correct. A team playing for next year probably could take those chances.

They don't like his Fanclub President, so they keep suiting him up just to ruin his week.

:lmao:

Am I enjoying his misery to much?

I hope Ball has been hitting the buffet table.....176 lbs

Heard he's up to 177 now :D

But seriously, if I remember correctly, I think he was a 4 year starter in college as well.

I think this move is more to do w/ Nate Jones than anything else.

Nate Jones is a blitzing fool but he can't cover even Hostile. :D

BURN

Remi was never going to play here now...I think its more a case of somebody else maybe trying to get him and us needing to prevent it

At the very least they could be seeing how Ball handles the NFL compared to Nate Jones.

Nah, Nate Jones is moving to DE because we need more of a pass rush than we showed against Detroit, and Jones has shown that when he rushes the passer, good things happen.

So, we needed Ball to take the coverage spot Jones was presumably occupying as the fourth corner.

Genius, Wade, genius!

What the hell happened to Oglesby? Is he really so bad he can't push Nate Jones for PT?

Also, since Tank isn't exactly setting the world on fire after people expected him to come in and rack up 10 sacks and 75 tackles in half a season, you'd think people would have learned to temper their expectations.

So is he going to take Roy's spot?

We were actually hoping he would take your spot here on the boards. It's all about content and we feel that we are not getting much w/ you on the roster. We think Ball will bring much more debate and discussion on the boards.

I am sorry, but we are going to have to let you go.

Turk will be in touch.

Who expected anything other than a rotation guy from Tank? Oglesby is a special teams guy when we signed him it was obvious it was a special teams move, where were you?
