Bill Bates was overhyped? Did that thought enter your mind before or after your head injury?

Hard hitter, that Bates. That was when he could actually keep up with a runner. There have been many hard hitters among the Cowboys. Few half been as slow and as overhyped as Bates. Is Bates ROH material? HOF material? Not in a million years. When Jimma got here, I imagine he quickly decided Bates was of the old guard and he built his team accordingly. Without the slow or the old or talent that depended on a runner or receiver coming at you to get a decent hit.
Nein!
Bill Bates was strictly a product of hype. "Bully Billy Bates!" Madden would boom. And we believed it. Hard-hitter? Yes? Was he the only hard hitter? No. There were plenty of hard hitters among the Cowboys, just not as slow and cud-chewing and bubba-esque as Bates.
Bates' biggest contribution to the Cowboys might have been -- while he was hobbled during the first of Jimma's Super Bowls -- the T-shirt he designed that said "Kick Butt" And even linguistically he failed. And Jimma saw this and Bates was relegated to where he always belonged, the bench or as a niche player. From that does not arise a special player.

Mein fine response was so good that I feel faint, so I half to lay down to receover my wits and heal the head injury.
Blessings to you and to our Cowboys.

I don't know if you realize this but the Cowboys defense has been bad for a while, with & without Sean Lee.

It's been very bad for seveal years now. And it's been bad with Lee and others who are journeymen players.

You do know that when Jimmy got there, he watched Bill bates in practice going hard and decided that he was one of the old players that he wanted to keep. And he did keep him...

Randy White wanted out because of the tough camp that the Jimester put out there. Bates may have been slow, ugly, and not a stand out, but he was a hell of a player.

Smoke a stick and heal that head of yours, because you must not remember how vital he was during his time with the Cowboys. Or, you could just side with the trolls like you like to do...take a Valium.

Find me a play where Lee runs into his teammate chasing down a run.
That all but guarantees the first overall pick in next year's draft. Not bad at all.

Not really. I think Weeden is better than he let on in Cleveland (Where QB's go to die). Attach the chemistry already built with Dez in college. Our luck, we'd go 8-8.

You started out as a witness for the defense and ended up the star prosecution witness. LOL.

Yes, very vittle to the nosediving Cowboys of the mid-'80s. And that T-shirt he designed was very vital. And had not Jimma kept him, maybe Jimma would never half won a Super Bowl trophy. (wink-wink)

All this remind me of someone trying to elevate a player but, in the final urinalysis, reminding us how Bates was "slow, ugly and not a stand out." Not exactly a letter of recommendation.

Ah, greatness.
How fleeting it is. Fleeting as Bates was not. (But a hell of a hitter!)

It's best to just ignore Gimme. He actually believes that he is funny. No amount of criticisim will deter him.

Ah...that's who posted? The ignore feature is absolutely glorious. There are a few knuckleheads I'll never ignore because I like to point out when they're horribly wrong, however.

Disappointed that the Patriots signed LB Anderson...I had pimped him early on as the best available free agent out there.
