I hate to lose out on Melton but Dallas would not be in this situation if management handled their business the past couple of years.

Ever consider the fact that Melton doesn't want to play in Dallas? Clearly Seattle is in a better position to be in the Super Bowl the next couple of years.

No defense is in as bad as shape as ours. We were the worst last year, and we've gotten worse than that so far in the off season...

Possibly but how have we gotten worse. We let two over the hill DL go. Last I checked ware and hatcher were both on this team last year and we finished worst defense in the league.

Chicago lost peppers and melton. They resigned Ratliff and signed Houston who plays strong side and isn't a sack my step himself.

They need a weak side DE. Two DTs. Safety and a corner. Also need a LB or two. Briggs is pretty much done and they don't have much of a MLB.

I don't understand why people think they are going to draft Donald with all these other needs and with them moving away from the Tampa 2. They aren't going g to focus on the undertackle. They want to go big DL with a speed rusher on the weak side and at OLB. They want to look more like a denver defense.

This is our problem............Marinelli/Kiffen's defense is total crap without a legit 3 tech........Melton was the last legit 3 tech starter that I am aware of in free agency. Thus, we have to look to the draft and Donald is the only 3 tech that is rated as a 1st day starter by most scouting services. So unless we grab Donald, we have a very big problem.

Even Mr. Happy company man Spags was saying on Talking Cowboys that 19 of our 36 sacks just walked out the door in Ware and Hatcher and right now the team is worse, not better for it. Expecting 2 rookies (or other team's backups) to get 19 sacks between them is being overly optimistic in my opinion. I have to agree with Spags, something I usually never do.......LOL

Chicago wasn't to good last year either. they didn't resign melton. You people act like melton is the savior of this team. Chicago let him walk and only 3 teams are interested I the guy.

Let someone else over pay the guy.

Sometimes you just have to rebuild and let the old guys go. Ware wasn't the ware of old anymore and melton wasn't going to be the answer. Takes more than one guy to fix a defense.

I'd say it'd make it more likely we'd trade down. Our need for a rush end is actually greater than our need for a 3-tech, and we can position to get a DE and still net at least a third to use on platooning a couple of promising DTs.

I mean its hard to get worse than last year so I personally don't see how anyone could think we could get worse. Sure, Hatcher had a GREAT year but in that month of December that defensive line including Hatcher were terrible. It can't get any worse. What you can hope is that some youth can sort of spark this defensive line like we did with the offensive line with Leary, Frederick's and Tyron.

I know he was asking for too much money according to folks liking here, but Hatcher was our best defensive player lays year. In fact, he was the only defensive player worth anything last year. And as bad as Ware has been, he was still better than anyone else we have...
