Why? Two returning add draft picks and other FA's. I expect a much improved DL.

What makes you so sure we are going to draft any good DL? I don't know if JJ will draft any before the 5th round, we're good on the DL.....

If melton was all that some are making him sound like. Then why is he still on the market? Why did old man hatcher get signed before he did?

Because he has legal troubles and is coming off of a major injury probably. Maybe he is just looking for the best possible fit for him. The guy was very good when healthy but you're right, we have no idea what he will be now and there's no way we should overpay him. Most of us thought he'd be relatively cheap due to the injury. Hatcher was coming off of a probowl season.

Chicago wasn't to good last year either. they didn't resign melton. You people act like melton is the savior of this team. Chicago let him walk and only 3 teams are interested I the guy.

Let someone else over pay the guy.

Sometimes you just have to rebuild and let the old guys go. Ware wasn't the ware of old anymore and melton wasn't going to be the answer. Takes more than one guy to fix a defense.

I was agreeing with your post, are we not saying the same thing?

No one player was going to be the fix, even if you could pick any guy from the entire FA pool. I'm not saying Melton is a fix but he's a piece, he fits a need, he's young and had success under Rod. The defense in the league with Melton is still far off.

Well, it was always possible that the Dallas visit was a "hey, I can walk out of here and head down the road" negotiating tactic. We'll see.

Last face it everyone, Melton just does not want to come here unless he has to. Or unless we bust out the big bucks and lure him here. We really don't have much to offer and our organization is nothing special. We used to be a top notch organization. But that has gone away now with bad drafting, bad trades and bad scouting, bad coaching, bad players and talent, etc. etc.

I know it hurts not getting Melton. Im bummed also like most fans are. But this is a culmination of those bad choices we made in the past all coming together and it doesn't seem its going to be as easy rebuilding as we all thought it to be.

This is why I'm so surprised that we didn't care much for letting go our stars go so easily. Ware didn't even get an offer. We just couldn't afford him. Hatcher it seems would have liked to play here but our FO didn't seem like they even wanted to sign him. Thus one of the reasons why Hatcher easily signed with the Skins without a hesitation. Sure he signed because of the money. But come on - Hatcher was our most productive dlinemen and we seemed like we didn't care to sign him? Wake up Jerry.

Dallas is exactly where they wanted to be. Their past choices got them to where they are now. Its unfortunate and Im bummed. But we just aren't a top notch organization like the Lakers or the Yankees anymore. Thanks to Jerry and in my opinion Garrett has a big part for our downward spiral. But like they say "no pain, no gain". We are going to be in the pain in the next few years trying to rebuild. 17 years of blunder and mistakes isn't going to go away that easily.

Melton wasn't going to make this team win the superbowl

That's a pretty strange bar to hold a FA too. Can he help next year or maybe 2016? Dallas is not going to go 1-15 with this offense, why not try to give them some help.

I look back at the Saint game when Hatcher didn't play and say yes we can get worse. I hope Crawford and Bass are part of the solution but both are coming off injuries and until they prove otherwise I don't think they are a sure thing. The last few years we have been plagued with injuries and big names not even making it out of training camp. I'm not even sure if we get Donald that he is a sure thing. He was extremely productive in college but people have said he's too small and Martin played him to a draw at the senior bowl so at a minimum there is some risk with him.

Ever consider the fact that Melton doesn't want to play in Dallas? Clearly Seattle is in a better position to be in the Super Bowl the next couple of years.

Yes I have consider that. Clearly it still does not hide that Management did a terrible job in not selecting talented young dlinemen over the years. If business was being handled properly this team would not be as desperate to sign Melton.

True, what's worse than last? If we can be the worst defense in the league with them, we can certainly pull that off without them. If that's how you want to look at it.

Yeah because that's the goal.

Not a complete surprise. Seahawks have boo koo bucks -- tons of available cap space.

Isn't it amazing when you hit on a QB and win a Super Bowl during his rookie contract? Amazing what kind of talent you can bring in when your marque QB makes $700K a year.

Would you guys want to bring in Melton if we have to overpay for him? Lets just see who gets him and how much he gets. I am not comfortable giving him anything more than $5 mil per season and don't want to give that guy a long term deal until he shows that A. he's healthy and B. That he's done being a night time knucklehead.

It's a huge leap of faith. "Well we'll just draft them and not miss on the picks"

We could go a decade plus trying to replace DeMarcus Ware. A guy who gives you double digit sacks on a yearly basis.

I would rather have 3-4 guys that get 6-8 sacks a year honestly. You can't double team 4 guys and a 6-8 sack guy doesn't make 10 mil plus per season either.
