What this team needs most is a football guy who knows how to make football decisions.

Yep. For years I used to stand up for the Jones braintrust when people would say they need a football guy, and say, how many years will it take for them to qualify as "football guys"? Well 30 years later and they still don't get it! So the answer is, there is no amount of time that will make a front office get what it takes to win, when winning is not a priority.

I'm not sure you can be out when you were never really in.

When you are not willing to pay the going rate, all you are doing is window shopping.

The Cowboys are in the stands at this point watching the show.

No chance “on paper” to be a better team because they didn’t trade for, or sign a safety? When free agency just started and with the draft yet to come?

Good Lord. Talk about panicking.

This reads like the writer is trying to rile up Cowboy fans.

I thought the same exact thing Asthma. While the report may or may not be true. It was a terribly written article with deep assumptions.

I met him getting off work one night. Nice guy!

My buddy who is a big Cowboy fan said to me last night “I don’t want ET he is 29 years old and will cost too much”

Vea and James will be long gone by #19.

I'd imagine so, but here's to wishing. It's about the only thing we've got going for us, so don't ruin it for me just yet. I occasionally dream about winning the lottery, too and I know that isn't happening but dreaming is fun while it lasts.

I’ve never known Sam Quinn to be wrong or overreact before, so this sounds right to me.

I don't disagree that Jerry want's to win real bad. However, I question his motive for wanting to win real bad. I think he want's to win real bad to prove that he did not need Jimmy Johnson to win a Super Bowl. If he wanted to win real bad, wouldn't he do what was necessary to win? Jerry has even said that he would have fired the GM by now.

The thing that usually pisses me off about these kinds of deals is that if/when Thomas gets moved, it will be for a lessor deal. Every team thinks that we are Rubes and will take a deal like that. Nobody in their right mind would give a 1st round pick and the salary required, for Thomas. Then, later down the line, you will see a deal with somebody that isn't even close to what is being asked now.

Bugs me.....

No I have got it, everyone is mad Dallas did not leverage guys like Lawrence and Martin's future for guys they wanted. Now I can see all the angst. I would be all on board for signing these guys to reasonable offers. Who would be on board with giving a 2nd this year plus a 12.5mm AAV to ET. or 3-4 year deal to Honey Badger worth 12 mm AAV, or Suh a 15mm AAV contract and lets say foregoing Tank or Martin next year.

Honestly I didn’t see anywhere Jane stating this. Not on twitter and I didn’t see her on tv stating this.

Come on. If winning was his top priority he'd have a top level coach. He saw first hand what can happen when you have a strong coach like Jimmy or Bill and stay out of their way, but that wasn't "fun" for him, because he couldn't have his hands all over the team and THAT is his top priority. Him having fun is P1.

Unfortunately, history would indicate this guy probably isn't far from being wrong.

It should surprise no one that we may have bowed out on both these guys. Stephen takes free agency frugalness to a whole different level.

Saw that coming. Considering the emphasis on safety and the fact the draft is in Dallas. I smell a trade up for Derwin coming. Imagine if we didn't win a meaningless game in Philly? We could have actually just had James and not had to give up anything. But hey. Moral victories right?

what i think is even more likely (and extra frustrating) is that seattle takes him too lol. just an extra kick in the nuts. don't give us earl, end our season by beating us but still wind up right in front of us in the draft, and then take derwin right before our eyes.

I heard Dallas is willing to trade as far up to 10

Which would cost at least a 2nd rounder and maybe some more picks.

Trading up would be a mistake for a team that apparently will sit out FA and needs the draft to fill multiple holes. If we were, say one FS, from being elite, sure. But we have issues at LG, backup OT, WR, DE, DT, LB and S.

Trading away your top picks would be silly.

I just cried inside. I doubt they take him though. I can see them going CB or even DT before that.

The Honey Badger in Dallas prolly aint the best idea OFF THE FIELD...with the strip clubs, bars etc...Thomas would have been nice, but I'm afraid we are in full blown rebuild mode with rooks and 2nd year guys. Lets be honest...its prolly gonna be a ugly year on the defensive side...the back end. The Linebacking is no cake walk either. Tons of questions on both sides of the ball.We have to roll our sleeves up in the scouting department because this will be quite the undertaking this offseason.
