Report: Cowboys Trying To trade Trevon Diggs, Could cut The CB

There seems to be criticism of both players around here...

I don't watch film, as you need to know what's going on as far as player assignment assignments...

But I would think Bland and a never injured Diggs would cause QBs to think an extra millisecond longer before throwing, causing windows to close for receivers.

Bland ain't afraid tackle either, actually seems very willing, like Overshown.
All of the advanced metrics back this up too. For the Cowboys last year it took them about 3.25 seconds to generate pressure on the QB, sacks came in around 4.5 seconds. DBs that can cause a QB to hold the ball for an extra second lets those guys up front feast and rack up the negative plays.

I’d be cool with parting with Wilson if it means we can keep JLew. I feel our best DB last year was Lewis. I don’t want to lose him. What’s the cap ramifications if we do trade Diggs. I can live without Diggs and his soft play. I was done with Diggs when he went after that reporter after the game with more effort than he made tackling during the game.
He is healed and it's not joure flavor for some here, but he still qualifies as an asset. It would take some to take his salary and a 3rd round pick to lose him here and now.

The need to have a high-end 3-technique at defensive tackle is why the Cowboys are pushing to retain Osa Odighizuwa. The need to field a well-balanced DE opposite Micah Parsons is why Lawrence is still a good fit. While Lawrence’s sack production has declined over the years, his pressure rate and run stop grades have remained strong. He’s a do-it-all player who is sound in all aspects of the game and up until last season he’s been extremely durable as well.

Obviously, price will play a big part in this union. Pro Football Focus estimates Lawrence’s value to be two years at $7,500,000 per season. It’s only slightly more than the Cowboys other free agent DE, Chauncey Golston, and offers the Cowboys a proven commodity. Even if both players are moving in opposite directions, Lawrence offers leadership and track record of recent success that’s difficult to match

PLEASE TRADE HIM AND GET AT LEAST a 4th back for him for this years draft, Jerry I know it's killing you to get a 6th round pick for him in 2027!!!

In favor of moving on from Diggs. Has great on-ball skills, but lacks discipline and technique, instead relying on athletic ability. Add to that poor discipline in rehabbing from his first injury, which might have contributed to his second injury.
Don’t know what the market will be for a CB who isn’t physical against the run with two knee surgeries…interesting to see how this plays out.

This depends upon rules of defense and how it is structured. The defense has changed and previous standards are changed and adapted. Oh, the man is still a good cornerback and in this DC, he will be very involved and good.

I don't care how many ah Jerry's are thrown around. Wait and see with a little team direction is accumulated.

Unless this rumor continues to have legs and heard under the more reputed sources, imo ( Shetner, Archer or Machota ) .. i'l take it with a grain of salt.

- Only major medical knee concerns and rumored difficult rehab workings would concern me about Diggs.

- Otherwise he remains one of the games' premiere INT ball hawks, and if healthy still a top notch coverage guy.

- If there is any truth to the rumor, that means looking for RB, LB and an immediate starting CB in the very early rounds for sure,

I’m in favor of moving on from Diggs. Always liked Diggs but after two knee surgeries in two years and with that big contract, he needs to go.

But…I will be shocked if any team would be willing to offer any kind of pick. Why? Because if teams know he’s being shopped they also know they could get for nothing after he’s cut AND would not have to pay his big contract.
If that made any sense why would someone trade for Deebo? How do you shop someone with teams knowing? No one would ever be traded if that was the case.

Not even ballpark...what about this:

CB who stole the show during the second day of the 2025 NFL Combine. The Kentucky cornerback exploded for a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash, making him the fastest defensive back in this class. He's also someone the Dallas Cowboys have shown interest in.

During his media availability, Hairston confirmed he met with the Cowboys for an interview. He was asked how that went and was all smiles, saying he loves getting the chance to talk ball.

This has what to do with my comment?

Idiots. As usual, the so savvy NFL GM waits til a player has zero trade value before trying to trade him. Just dumb.

LOL
No one is giving a 3 for him now
When i was asking to trade him before his extension we could have had a 1 but idiot homers on CZ and our moron GM have no idea about team building

What happened to Diggs just makes me sick. So much potential with him and Bland together. fate intervened with multiple injuries of the type that changes careers.

The Cowboys had two 1st team All-Pros at CB and just like that......

Last season would have been so different with those two healthy along with a healthy set of DE's. Those season changing turnovers would have been there.

It's part of the game.....but it still bites.
