The Eagles have traded a conditional fourth-round draft pick and reserve linebacker Mark Simoneau to the New Orleans Saints for wide receiver Donte' Stallworth. The trade is contingent upon both players passing physicals with their respective new teams.

"We're bringing in an experienced receiver that's coming off of a great year with the New Orleans Saints and he'll fit in nicely into our receiving corps," said head coach Andy Reid. "He's got tremendous speed and quickness and he catches the ball very well. He's good with the yards after the catch."
"Mark was one of my favorite guys," said Reid of Simoneau. "He was a great person and tremendous player for us, on special teams and at linebacker. We just appreciate everything he did for this organization."

WR Donte' Stallworth adds speed and quickness One of the league's most dangerous deep threats, Stallworth (6-0, 196) is entering his fifth professional season after originally being drafted by the Saints with the 13th overall pick in the 2002 draft. Last season, Stallworth had a stellar year with 70 receptions for 945 yards and seven touchdowns. His touchdown total was his highest since his rookie season when he set a team rookie record with eight scores.
Quarterback Donovan McNabb is excited about the addition of Stallworth.
"Dante is an explosive player who has had a very productive career with the Saints," said McNabb. "I've said many times earlier that I like the skill position players on our roster but realize that you can never have enough playmakers."

In 56 career games (32 starts), Stallworth has hauled in 195 receptions for 2,791 yards and 23 touchdowns. Among his career receptions, 45 were for 20 yards-or-more, while 12 of his career touchdowns were from 25 yards out or further. In addition, four of Stallworth's touchdown receptions have been game winners, including two in 2004, and he has notched 10 career 100-yard receiving games. In 2002, he became the first NFL rookie in 20 years to catch a touchdown in each of his first four games.
The 25-year-old, Sacramento, CA, native starred collegiately at Tennessee, where he finished his career with 99 receptions for 1,747 yards and 13 touchdowns. Stallworth entered the 2002 draft following his junior season. Stallworth has 10 career games with 100-plus receving yards.

Wierd. The Saints must be desperate for linebackers because Stallworth is a decent receiver, much better than a 4th round draft pick. Who else do the Saints have at receiver because he's all I know. ;)

That's a huge pickup for Philly. The Eagles can legitimately stretch the field with Stallworth. The trade itself looks like a win/win for both clubs.

As long as he stays healthy that looks like a good pickup for Philly.

The daily turd reported that it changes to a 3rd round pick if the eagles extend his contract.
It is a good pick, although he has been known to dissappear in games from time to time. Atleast it plays to a strength we have with our talent at corner.

Other than being often injured, no, he was no trouble. I live near New Orleans and learned an interesting tidbit when Sean Payton came on board.

Due to Katrina, he offered those that didn't want to stay in New Orleans a ticket out of town (trade, release, etc.). He was sympathetic to the players and their families, but also didn't want this disaster to be used as an excuse for poor performance. I think Stallworth was on the list of those that wanted out, and the Saints probably just finished shopping him around.

I for one think that this was the right move for Payton (letting those that didn't want to be in New Orleans go).

I heard rumors around local sports talk shows that they had been seeking at least a 2nd rounder for Stallworth, but there were no takers.

I give the Eagles credit for trying to upgrade the league's worst receiving corps. Stallworth will help the Eagles stretch the field. I wonder if this means Todd Pinkston is done?

at one time it looked like stallworth was going to be something special. but then he never quite turned the corner to being the wr he was hyped up to be. i dont know if it has to do with him, the system, Brooks as his qb or all thr problems the saints had last year. plus one year he had some injury issues if i remember right.

if he gets the ball in the open field he can break a long run though and he slips through tackles. in a WCO he may do really well. It does sound to me like the eagles really got the better end of this trade.

If Stallworth wasn't as injury prone as he is, I would think that Reid would get rid of Pinkston as quickly as possible, but he'll probably keep him as insurance.

I read that too, and the first thing that came to my mind was...what a wonderful thing to do as a first year head coach by trying to let the Saints get on with their lives...

Should I stay? Or, should I go? Your choice...

I bet that means alot to the players to have that option to leave, and, if they want to leave, it might not be because of performance, they just want to leave that event behind and move on...

Now, him going to the Eagles...that's his problem. If he goes in there and starts making more fans then McSlob...he's got a problem....

pretty good pick up for them as outside of Brown they have no one at WR. Still Stallworth has been an underachiever all is career so far and doesnt have real good hands
