Report: Eagles trade draft pick and LB Simoneau for WR Donte Stallworth

The eagles definitely upgraded their WR corp here. Football outsiders has Stallworth ranked as their 25th WR in the league last year. He caught 54% of his passes from butt-hurting Aaron Brooks last year. Finished with nearly a thousand yards and 7 TDs. He's the best receiver they've got, now, since Reggie Brown hasn't caught two passes in a row, yet. For the price they paid, I think they made out like bandits.

Not sure how he fits into the Iggles offense, yet, but as bad as McNabb is, he's still better than Brooks. Stallworth is a good pickup for the Iggles.

The plain and simple fact is that Donte Stallworth is an upgrade for the Eagles, with a deep threat presence ... and there's nothing you can say to change that.
Stallwirth has 4.2 speed in the 40, a legitimate speed receiver in the prime of his career who posted big-time numbers for a wobbly Saints offense last season. And suddenly, just like that, the Eagles have a wide receiving corps that is deep and talented and varied and this offense has as many weapons as any in the NFC heading into the 2006 season!

i agree that he is an upgrade for the ea-girls. but that's not saying all that much.

the ea-girls do not have a deep and talented WR corps. not by a long shot.

stallworth will improve the passing game a little, but this is a number 2 talent asked to be the number 1. that's not a good thing.

Donte Stallworth is an excellent pick up for the Eagles. They will be a much more dangerous team with him on the field. Stallworth may not have quite the home run capability that TO has, but he is still a very productive receiver.

This trade doesn't worry me at all. As was said, Stallworth is an underacheiver who had a decent year last year, which means he will stink this year. I believe rookie WR Hank Baskett will be harder to defend than Stallworth.
With our defense playing even better than last year, I don't see much of a change when we play them this year. We will shut down their offense, and overpower their defense.

Well, I kept up with this kid in the 2002 draft, cause I was in favor of a WR that year, course you can't be disappointed with who we got. He hasn't done as much as I thought he would when he was coming out of college, as most at that time pointed out that he wasn't even the best WR on his own team (Kelley Washington was on the Vols squad with him).

There were times on that team that he would disappear, and that has carried over to the pros. But his talent and potential is undeniable, the question is whether he will ever live up to it. Really, he has never been a number one WR, even in college, most saw Kelley as the man.

I do believe this is an excellent pickup for the Eagles. He doesn't have the total package, but he does upgrade the Eagles miserable WR corps.
