Agree 100% .........not an x/o guy per se but make no mistake he's passionate about winning.

BTW.......caption this
The guy who broke the story shares the same marketing agency with Deion and his sons

I don't think Jerry makes that phone call unless it's to gauge interest in the job. Historically, Jerry doesn't juggle lots of interviews. He targets somebody he wants. Thats what he did with MM. Only 2 guys interviewed for the job and Marvin Lewis was a Rooney interview.

 Using Deion to meet the Rooney? Yea right.........that's not the way Jerry operates. He generally targets 2-3 coaches and always gets the one he wants. I def think it has legs .........don't start this kind of contact w/o some conviction and if you are Deion it hurts your portal. I am not saying it's going to happen but to brush it off as something as simple as a Rooney contact is missing the point.

lol. No No. I'm NOT saying Jerry is going to interview Dieon to meet the Rooney requirement. I'm saying he's serious about Dieon and doesn't interview many people.

When Garret left, Jerry only interviewed MM and Marvin Lewis to meet the Rooney rule requirement. Dieon isn't going to let Jerry twist him in the wind long enough for Kellen Moore to free up. He's got recruiting to worry about and the last thing he needs is questions over his future. I expect a quick hire or a quick denial from Dieon that he's NOT nterested in the job.

Sanders is 13-12 as a coach let’s hit the breaks.
Not that I want him as the coach other than for the entertainment value (though I will not completely write him off), but technically he is 38-17 as a coach given your lack of specifications.

I could be wrong but this IMO is a high profile Jerry pump-fake and another sham use of the Rooney Rule. Kellen Moore or Jason Witten will be the next HC.

what makes you say that?
Deion is not an X's and O's guy/coordinator who is going to call his own system on either side of the ball. So he's going to be heavily reliant on his coordinator hires. If he finds a good one, they're likely to be hired away quickly for a head coaching job. If he hires a bad one, it risks shortening his tenure in Dallas. The ideal is to find a coordinator like a Zimmer, who probably doesn't have any future head coaching aspirations.

Deion would be taking a huge risk to allow it if its just a pump fake. There's no way he can maintain recruits with a rumor hes leaving

gotcha gotcha. makes sense. but isn't that the typical lifecycle of coordinators anyway?

All Deion has said publicly is he took Jerry's call out of utmost respect for Jerry but loves Colorado. No harm, no foul on his end. It happens all the time with college coaches. In most cases, they wind up getting a raise from the current school/employer.

Are you being serious? He literally did this to Garrett, lame duck year and Garrett got an extension from it. He notoriously has said “deadlines make deals”, he’s waited until the last minute to sign players to extensions- most recently dak, whom he could have signed a year earlier.

He’s literally said it multiple times….so you don’t have to “buy it”

“Had there been a different result in that game and in the one that followed, Prescott and McCarthy probably would have received new deals. Asked if he believes people perform at their best when their backs are against the wall, Jones responded: “Absolutely.”

“I do,” he added. “I really do. There’s no question in my mind that angst, pressure, competing will bring out the best in this game, from coaches and players.”

It’s literally the man’s words….
I get what you’re saying and he’s said these things but he’s also said things like Zeke and Henry are the same caliber. I just think he talks at times just to talk.

part of me thinks this is all show. Two absolute blowhards who need media attention like most people need oxygen. If they don't get it, they shrivel up and die. So part of me is both are flirting and nothing will come out of this.

On the other hand, Jerry does have a Netflix documentary coming out this year (10 episodes) about him being a gambler. Jerry has some say on direction of the Doc. The ending monolgue would look a lot better to Jerry if they showed Deion becoming the coach rather than Zimmer or Kellen Moore.

Sure, but his actions speak louder than his words and there’s countless time he’s negotiated and went down to the deadline on things so that’s different than just Jerry speaking Jerry stuff.
