Yeah I don’t buy it. He’s never gone into a season doing this since when has Jerry believed players are at their best with their backs against the wall? Or coach’s? Jerry doesn’t even believe that lol.

Are you being serious? He literally did this to Garrett, lame duck year and Garrett got an extension from it. He notoriously has said “deadlines make deals”, he’s waited until the last minute to sign players to extensions- most recently dak, whom he could have signed a year earlier.

He’s literally said it multiple times….so you don’t have to “buy it”

“Had there been a different result in that game and in the one that followed, Prescott and McCarthy probably would have received new deals. Asked if he believes people perform at their best when their backs are against the wall, Jones responded: “Absolutely.”

“I do,” he added. “I really do. There’s no question in my mind that angst, pressure, competing will bring out the best in this game, from coaches and players.”

It’s literally the man’s words….

Interviewing Al Harris would satisfy that.

Pretty sure, to satisfy the Rooney rule you need to interview a minority candidate who isn’t on your staff and also believe a phone call doesn’t satisfy it either. It has to be a legitimate interview

“In 2021, the NFL approved changes requiring every team to interview at least two external minority candidates in person for open head coach and GM positions and at least two external minority candidates — in person or virtual — for a coordinator job. Additionally, at least one minority and/or female candidate must be interviewed for senior level positions (e.g., club president and senior executives).”

Deion gives you zero competitive advantage on gameday. Who’s his staff? Coaching tree? He’s shown nothing to make me think he could translate to the pros with one year at Colorado. His motivational speeches I’m sure work wonders on college kids, but that doesn’t fly in the NFL.

Oh so kind of like McCarthy but with charisma. Agreed, it will be about his coordinators.

One thing is for sure .......this WILL NOT drag out. Colorado has to be concerned about losing a bunch of players ( portal ) if he leaves. They will put pressure on Deion for a decision.

I’d rather have Deion than Kellen although Kellen is the far safer pick, I’m just tired of looking at him already and he hasn’t even been hired yet.

I’ve long said that my opinion of Deion was that I wasn’t sure he’s a great head coach (not that he couldn’t be) but a great recruiter and getting college guys to buy in. I’m not sure that translates to the nfl. I’d still roll that dice than hire Kellen.

If Deion ever came, likely mean zimmer stays imo
Dieon is an alpha and the Cowboys haven't had one of those since parcels. He's not going to break down film and tell the OC or DC what to do. But, he will hold them accountable for failure. He will do the same with players. He will get in their ears and motivate them like only someone of his stature can.

The other aspect of Dieon that is growing on me is that he won't be awed by Jerry Jones or intimidated. Dieon casts his own shadow and might be just what the team needs.

I can remember Jimmy Johnson, can't you?

Good point, but it was a different day and age. I think this would go exponentially worse for Jerry with social media and all the access people have today.

Agreed, and worst case scenario will be hard on Jerry. I can't imagine him attempting to walk over Deion without very public repercussions.

After 47 years, I will walk if this is the next stage of decline for this franchise. It's like staying in a bad marriage and hoping it will change at some point.

I can see it happen if Jerry assures Deon that he trades Dak, 2026 1st round, and maybe 2027 1st round to Carolina for their 2025 1st round (Shadeur).

Agree 100% .........not an x/o guy per se but make no mistake he's passionate about winning.

BTW.......caption this
The guy who broke the story shares the same marketing agency with Deion and his sons

Irvin on the sideline would be just too much.

This has to happen.
Yeah, I'm here for the largest circus possible. I've completely given up a SB under Jerr, so bring on the entertainment.

The Ravens are kind of my mistress for the SB now, being from Maryland, but I'll never be able to quit my true love, the circus.
