Dallas Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel could become the team's starting QB for Week 7 following the team's bye.

According to NFL insider Jason Cole, the Cowboys are "highly likely" to make the switch after they take a look at the position over the next week.

Head coach Jason Garrett said after Sunday night's loss to the Patriots that the team would evaluate the quarterback position. This means Cassel has the chance to take over for Brandon Weeden who has lost his last three starts for the Cowboys.

“Brandon didn’t play well enough,” Garrett said following the 30-6 home defeat, via ESPN Dallas. “We didn’t play well enough. We’re going to watch the tape and evaluate each guy and each unit to see how we can play better. That’s just the process we go through each week. Ultimately, we didn’t score enough points. Brandon was a part of that, but everybody else was a part of it too.”

Maybe it is just me but sounds like someone just guessing with a gamble of high probability on his side. In other words saying highly likely is pretty much a captain obvious claim to make at this point, except we are dealing with the Jones and the Ginger...

I will have to hear it from Jason or Jerry before I believe it.

It's a start. But need more changes to generate a spark and sense of urgency.

Replace DMC with Michael, Lael for Leary, Mayle for Street, trade for Raheem Mostert with Miami (replace Dunbar at RB/receiver & returner), demote Whitehead to PS, sign AJ Jenkins.

Still need to trade for vet FS, but this is a start.

I agree BP. I think it's more of a guess and just throw it out there to see if it gets hits.

I will say this, I didn't really expect Weedon to be able to come in and run an offense the way Tony did. That's foolish to begin with. I think that in two of the three L's, Weedon played well enough for us to have a chance to win. In this last game, I don't believe that was the case but it was the Pats. They are a good team and they will make you look silly if you are limited.

The thing that really bothered me was the last series. 6 straight incompletions from the Red Zone. Even when we got bailed out by a holding call and a 1st down. Williams was wide open on the last play and that should have been an easy throw for any QB to make. It was such a poor pass and no pressure to speak of on Weedon, that's kind of telling IMO. I don't know if he was just so rattled or what but he really should have been able to make an accurate throw there. He couldn't and that makes me think that it's in his head now. I guess we'll see.

All you need to do is take my word for it. I have nothing to say.

If they're running out the same crap gameplan I don't think it's going to make a difference.

It has long been time to give up on Weeden. Its just stubborness at this point if they don't.

Had Cassel been here in the preseason then you could make that argument. Weeden got a fair shot. He put us in a place to steal one in NO and he never got the ball back. Now with an extra week of prep it is obvious that we have to make a change.

I'm actually liking that NY has no tape of Cassel with Dallas. We weren't beating NE regardless.

The next game tells us all we need to know.

A win puts us at 3-3 with three division wins and tiebreaker vs NY

If we can manage to be 4-5 when Romo returns, but the two wins between now and then are vs. NY and Phi, we're going to win this division.

Just not really sure if that's at all possible, but we do indeed have a chance.

I'll say this...we sneak into the playoffs and can get reasonably healthy, I wouldn't want to face us.

There's hope folks, just the NY and Phi games must be won.
