Report: More red flags popping up on Fairley

That is a dumb move on Fairley's part. that sort of thing really can hurt you.

And for those of you that think Ryan could handle him- that might be true. But how long do you really expect Ryan to be around?

That is the one caveat, and a very good point.

However, I don't think Fairley is the problem child some are making him out to be.

He didn't have Ryan pushing him at Auburn and he was damn near unstoppable.

Guy is a knucklehead. If you saw the Georgia game this year he went crazy and an assistant coach had to go out on the field to calm him down before an all out melee ensued.

No way I would touch him and give him top 10 money.

The Dolphins are picking around 15th. The guy thought he was too good for them. Cant wait til hes in the NFL and thinks hes too good for the weight room or team meetings.

My list is now down to 3. Peterson, Tyron, and Quinn

I know I've posted it a couple (hundred) times, but Broaddus has been saying since about a week after the college season ended that Fairley had some big time character questions that would become more and more evident that closer we got to the draft.

Yeah, the report is from schefter..

What do you think about Fairley for us?

I'm torn on him. You watch his games last yr and he was one of the 2 or 3 most dominant players in college football. He's mean and nasty. He makes alot of plays.

But then there's the other "stuff". There's also the possibility that he's a far better fit at 4-3 DT than 3-4 DE.

Best player in the draft. Please fall to us.

Maybe talent wise, but also being lazy and having character concerns makes that no longer true.

This kid makes me think Fat Albert 2.0

This is why the draft should be held right after the season, like the other professional sports, so scouts don't have so much free time to over think things and suffer paralysis by analysis. Look at the tape and his impact on the football field. It doesn't lie. If the draft were held in February, Fairley goes no lower than 3rd and is the first defensive player off the board.

But, no, we've got 4 months to kill, so we got to go through the gamefilm and go through all the meaningless pre-draft rigmarole trying to find reasons why we don't like a guy rather than go with what's obvious to the naked eye ... and the naked eye tells you this guy is a half human, half beast monster who lives in the opponents backfield like no other player in this draft.

Was Warren Sapp always in peak physical condition? Not even close, in fact he sometimes sported a rather cartoonish gut. Did Warren Sapp have the same "motor" of a Le'Roi Glover or John Randall? Nope. Did Warren Sapp sometimes act like a chucklehead who liked to talk a lot of trash? Yep. Guess what? Despite it all, he was still the most dominant defensive tackle of his era.

The Miami Herald disputes a National Football Post report that Nick Fairley skipped a scheduled dinner with Dolphins brass following Auburn's March 8 Pro Day

Per the Herald's Jeff Darlington, the dinner was "optional." Fairley and a fellow prospect couldn't find a hotel, so they drove back to Atlanta. "(Dolphins GM Jeff) Ireland and (coach Tony) Sparano didn't really care," per Darlington. "Should Fairley have tried to attend the dinner? Maybe. But it’s not as simple as just skipping

Seems to me there seems to be a rather concerted effort on the part of someone to play up the alleged character concerns of Fairley and leak it to the press. Likely a team wanting to get best defensive player in the draft (at least on the football field) to fall to them so they can get an elite talent at a baragain.

IMHO, I think there's a bit of a double standard in how Fairley is scrutinized compared to Dareus. Not saying Dareus is going to be a bad football player, but he doesn't seem to be scrutinized to nearly the level of Fairley. If Fairley was taking snaps off, then Dareus must have been taking entire games off because he was rather invisible and nowhere to be seen a good many games. Maybe people let their bias towards Fairley's penchant for trashtalking bleed into their evaluation of his "motor".

Fairley has given reason for people to question his character. Dareus hasn't. Maybe there is some conspiracy to make Fairley slide, but I think you bringing up the fact that Dareus not being scrutinized on the level of Fairley has no merit.

For some reason my opinion of Fairley changed..and for the better, which makes no sense lol..

I wasn't sure if he was a fit in a 30 front..but it's hard to pass up on such a talented player if he's there at 9...I also trust Ryan to use exotic fronts to maximize his talents

let his stock drop...I have my mock coming out soon..and I have Fairley going to Dallas....all i know is he dominated last year similar to what Suh did at Nebraska.
