UFl competing head on with the NFL at the same time of year? No way they win that with inferior talent.

I like the thought of a Minor League that doesn't compete with the NFL but provides a league for College players who didn't make the NFL and a place to play and perhaps prove themselves.

If it was run in the off season then there would be football year round too, gotta love that.

I know the Arena league exists but I just can't get excited about it... a minor league team attached to each NFL team though, that I could get behind.

They could try to recruit players from the 18-19 year old bracket that the NFL won't touch.

It's definitely a long shot for them. But I think the best marketing thing they could do is play football in the off-season of the NFL. They obviously can't compete with the NFL, but they could make good money being "the offseason NFL." I'd watch football games this weekend if one was on. Being 1/100th of the NFL would still be a winning proposition for owners.

The problem with the XFL was that it was trying to be too eXtreme or whatever. Too much like a Mountain Dew commercial. Too much like wrestling. It was gimmicky. Gimmicks wear off.

That's my problem with Arena Football too (although they seem to make money). Arena football isn't real football to me. I can't get into it.

If they made a legit professional league that existed only as supplement to the NFL (instead of an alternative form), then it would be worthwhile.

I wish them luck. The more football the better.

Another league? All we have besides the NFL is the lame lame lame Arena football abortion that occurs in the spring.

No offense, but starting another league to "compete" with the NFL just seems like arrogance, or an ego trip, to me. The fact that Cuban is all for the idea only exemplifies this.

The best players will continue to play for the NFL because they can pay them the most. The fan support is too huge and the money invested by television companies is gigantic.

There wouldn't be competition between the NFL and the UFL, like there was when two organizations of similar size were competing with each other for fan support when they had the AFL and NFL. And even then, the end result was a merger.

Haha...XFL anybody?

I don't know anything about Bill Hambrecht and Tim Armstrong, but I look forward to them almost knocking out Bob Costas ala Vince Mcmahon when this league fails

(please watch, it is possibly some of the greatest tv ever; I love Vince, the big um-dumb)

No way this league works, especially considering that the league is at an all-time high in terms of popularity...If the XFL failed when the NFL was in a semi-lull, how can this "United Football league" work?

All that said, good luck to them; I however am going to stick with my Cowboys and Ravens in the good ol' NFL.

So what? Look at how many minor league baseball and hockey leagues there are around that manage to stick and those sports dont have near the following of the NFL or football in this country.

Put it on trampolines like Slamball and maybe I'd watch. Maybe. If the cheerleaders were on trampolines as well, then definitely.

They will loose their rear end......

If Arena cheeseball can survive, I dont see why this cant.

There are undoubtably some decent athletes in the AFL that want a chance at the NFL, and it figures that playing on a 100 yard field in a league that involves running the ball might be a better option for good majority of those players.
