Direct TV is owned by ATT. Losing money by keeping the NFL package isn't worth it to ATT. Their satellite service will always have a market for those living in out of reach of other providers or those who are mobile (for example, RVers).

I don’t see how DTV can let the ticket get away. They’ll be decimated. We have it at 2 locations, and the main reason is the sunday ticket. Its already expensive AND you have to get your internet elsewhere.
This is a huge bummer for me since I haven't paid for Sunday Ticket in like five years. I've gotten in free for that long with a sob story (though real) that they buy every year.

I gave up Dtv 3 years ago and have had zero issues watching for free online...... 4 games at a time using firesticks.

This really signals a shift in our TV viewing and where it is coming from. Two internet behemoths are taking over TV in the near future. Surprised Netflix didnt get involved.
I can't wait to see what directv is going to offer when a 3rd of their base tries to quit in January lol

Amazon hooking their wagon to the NFL is a smart business/ marketing move. Besides ingraining themselves into your every day life, it builds their content brand. Fox really became a legit network only after they got the NFL in 1994.

Does anyone watch Thursday Night Football on Prime? I really dislike it because when I watch football I flip channels during commercial breaks. I can't really do that when I watch Thursday Night Football because I get Prime through Roku and switching streaming services or flipping back to FiOS is a process. If they get the deal, the need to make sure viewers can flip from game to game easily at the very least.
I watch, and it would be nice to flip from Prime to DirectTV easily. Now, I would have to change from HTML2 back to HTML1. Then there would be the normal wait to switch back. I just keep it on the channel until I through watching the game, which is getting earlier and earlier because the games have been less-than-competitive.

People still pay for NFL games? There are so many sites where you can stream for free why pay?

As an Amazon prime member, this is good news for me. I'm guessing Google will roll it over to their U-Tube outlet. Either way, both are better than Apple IMO.

As an Amazon shareholder, I applaud this. Thursday and Sunday Night Football.

There's probably some fine print in invisible ink that penalizes customers in perpetuity for early withdrawal of a secret 20 year contract.

Just get another TV.

Wow Amazon came out of the blue…didn’t think they were in it but good to see.

Really hope it’s setup so you can do pay by single games

They are definitely moving the brand into sports marketing. Thursday night NFL is like a 3 hour Amazon commercial. As an aside, the Glazers (Tampa Bay owners) have put Manchester United up for sale after owning the club for 17 years. Rumor has it that Amazon is interested in owning United.

I do. But I either watch it on my phone at work, where I don't really have time to flip around, or I watch it on my computer at home, where it's obviously easy to go elsewhere during a commercial. But I'm pretty sure if they get this you'll be able to switch from game to game with no issues.

Is there a way to stream to my TV, instead of watching it on my laptop or phone? Is there a streaming service that doesn't start buffering when the QB releases the ball on third down?

Run a cable from your laptop to the USB port on your television. Might be some lag but hey...

Anything better than Direct TV....

I would be fine with either Amazon or Google. The fact that Direct TV has a streaming service and you couldn't get the ticket was, perhaps, the dumbest thing I ever saw lol.

DTV has far better picture quality than other TV service options. Not even close. But the weather issue for satellite dishes is a pain.

I don’t know if it is good news if it is Amazon Prime because they will probably put language like the customers is locked into Amazon prime for the year to get the service and it will be a significant increase like may set up an Amazon Prime basic (what it is now) and premium (live sports and other tv programming included) or getting rid of the pay per year option.
No, the Ticket will be an option like before. Most people won't want it.
