Would not be surprised if Chris Johnson is on the short list to bring in if McFadden gets hurt

Still a lot of opinion and assumptions in there. Johnson may be on the downside of his career, but Randle hasn't even had one yet.

Randle has more of a career than Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon at this point. Randle had the highest ypg last year of all backs with 50+ carries. I know that doesn't say a whole lot, but it says at least something.

And Chris Johnson still has a bullet in his shoulder, right?

It does say something. But it also brings into question the fact that the team had involved in very little other than running with the football. He wasn't used much in the passing game or protection at all, so one has to wonder if he's sub-par in those areas? And if he is, it will greatly limit his number of touches and possible impact as a starter.

And Chris Johnson still has a bullet in his shoulder, right?

Yes, why?

Is Chris Johnson better than Joseph Randle?

No, not today. So what's the point?

The only way I do this is on a McFadden-like deal. And Chris Johnson won't sign a McFadden-like deal.

He will if no one else wants him and he still wants to play. Las time I checked, no one else was beating down his agent's door..

Do we sign Hardy if we bring back Demarco?

I dunno, hadn't given that a thought. this was just shooting off at first sight. I'm tired of the RB mess. Signing Murray would have settled this point. After thinking about it, probably not, but with Gregory, maybe it would not have been so bad. I dunno, I'm just a fan with an opinion, not the answer man.

With Carr's contract, and now the rumbling of extending him, he could have been redone. Along with a little cush by Romo and a small redo, Dallas could have had Murray, Dez, and Hardy and still had money in the bank.

This is why I believe the FO was so adamant about playing hardball with Murray. They thought Peterson had played his last days at Minnie, and they could "trade up," and still get all of the rest of this done. So in my mind they overshot their mark and are left with a Death Star sized question mark about this offense in 2015.

Because all the positive spin doesn't supplant the running attack of 2014.

The neigh-Sayers will bring up the cap and the future and all sorts of excuses why you just can't do this. Then we'll heard about any one of 500 running backs behind this line, and the league doesn't value the RB position. Then there will be the 400 carries the year before and his injury history and meat on the bone nonsense. All the feeble tripe that has been passed around this off season.

But the reality is this. Were this team sitting here ready for camp with Murray as the starter, Hardy on his short suspension, Dez under contract, a healthy Romo, and Randle a solid second with plans on getting him 50-100 carries in the regular season, there would not be many journalists, experts, or talking heads who didn't put Dallas as a seed for the NFC Championship game. After that, its finish the fight.

And beyond the immediate grousing by some fans here, this board might be united in agreement this is the year.

If he still has that bullet in his shoulder, and it sounds like he does, then that is a big reason why the interest is tepid.

He and his agent miscalculated this thing.
I realize a lot has been written about how hard he's working and what dedication it shows to work out with a bullet in your shoulder, but come Chris.
That would be behind him if he'd just had it removed right away, months ago.
Now training camps are starting and it may be too late.

Yes, why?

Has he taken any hits on that shoulder? What will happen when he does? Can it dislodge?

I think that if the doctors who treated him felt that there was any issues or risk that it wouldn't be there. If you and I are asking about it, I'm sure they were.

That's interesting. I'd like to hope and think the Cowboys value Dez as the best player on this team. I honestly don't feel it was a either or situation with Demarco and anyone on this team. I believe they truthfully wanted Demarco at a certain price tag that would make sense for them.

Tyron Smith.

This should be moved to the NFL Zone :)

he Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Cowboys have "no interest" in free agent Ray Rice.

The Cowboys have been speculatively connected to Rice and Chris Johnson, but ESPN's Todd Archer previously tweeted those links are being made by "everybody but the Cowboys." Per the Star-Telegram's Charean Williams, the Cowboys "haven't ruled out signing a vet back, but not for at least a couple weeks." They want to see how Joe Randle, Darren McFadden, and Lance Dunbar look early in camp.

Good point, the NFL Zone is where the RB threads go :lmao2:

I disagree. If the Cowboys wanted Demarco he would be a Cowboy. I also don't think restructuring and pushing Carr's money back was an option either. Cowboys simply value this offensive line more than they do or did Demarco.

And nobody's signed him, so maybe there are concerns from doctors.

Again, if there are concerns from some doctors, it would have been brought up by others when it occurred.

For whatever reason(s) Johnson is unsigned, I doubt that leaving that bullet in his shoulder is one of them.
