Tony Romo

Based on the length, timing and amount of the contract that Tyron got, it's clear that the team values him more so than any other player they have.

I'm pretty sure if the Cowboys were told that they could only keep one player from the current roster; their all-pro, cornerstone, 24 year old left tackle would be at the top of the list.

Brandon Jacobs' agent is now in contact with the Cowboys. :muttley:

Are you kidding? At this point, Herschel Walker's agent is in contact with the Cowboys!

(and rumor is that Emmitt might be mulling a comeback!)

Yes, I'm kidding. We all know how much Mr. Jacobs is loved around here.

And if you told them that they would lose one player from the team this season, but they could pick one person they would protect, it would be Tony Romo.

Actually, even with your situation, I think they might pick Tony Romo. It's not good to compare a contract length of a 24 year old player to that of a 35 year old player as evidence of which is better. And I'm pretty sure Romo gets paid a lot more than Tyron does.

He's 29 and while RB peak at 27 or 28 and he is on the statistical age downslope of his career he still could play at a high level. He got 4.3 YPC in a rotation and led in big plays for that Jets offense. I'm sure you're aware of the Geno Smith debacle. Stacked boxes and although Mangold and to a much lesser extent Ferguson are good, Colon and the rest were marginal talent. All three of our interior guys can iso at the poa all but the very elite DT like Watt, Cox, and Jergens. Smith wrecks smaller DE. Witten and Free do good jobs against DE as well. Most teams cannot get as much interference on the second level as we can. All those guys can move. I get that 2011 was a long time ago some people more than others but age 29 is about on the same level as age 25 or 26 even if its not like the peak statistically.

If DMC cannot go, I don't trust Dunbar and I would feel a heck of a lot better for a back to rotate Randle to keep them fresh. I think this guy is the best left on the scrapheap. Disclaimer: he was a pet cat when he came out.

Sorry that was his dig coming out. He runs inside and outside and has been doing it for a long time. The point isn't his skill relative to your ideal. Live in reality and compare him to the other options and it seems obvious to me.
