Yes let’s keep doing what doesn’t work…

The Cowboys are stale and this year is a waste.
should the Chargers have dumped Dan Fouts? Should the Dolphins dumped Marino after year 10?

Change for the sake of change..... sounds like a winner.

Report reveals Cowboys’ stance on Dak Prescott contract
May 31, 2024
by Grey Papke

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have not fully committed to each other in recent public comments, but the Cowboys do not have any real doubts privately about their quarterback.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on Friday’s “NFL Live” that the Cowboys remain “all-in” on re-signing Prescott, and fully intend to prevent the quarterback from becoming a free agent in 2025.

If they're "all in" on Dak, why are they wasting a year of his career with easily correctible problems at key positions?
Why not a legitimate starting running back behind him, or at least a *maybe* legitimate running back?
Why no resource beyond a 7th round pick put into DT?

Even if they're not interested in winning championships, but just want money, shouldn't they want to spend the resources they have efficiently, and pick up the lowest hanging fruit to improve the product on the field?

Such willful avoidance of obvious improvement simply seems like sabotage.

Is that the plan? Hamstring the team this year to drive down the value of Dak and Lamb, who they then assume will still want to remain Cowboys and sign next year?

I would say if Cowboys were really committed to signing him, it would be a done deal already because of the cap relief…. But never know with Stephen signing the checks now. He cringes up on any spending and waits until daddy has to get involved.

You would be an absolute fool to provide "inside information", or allow it to be provided by insiders on pretty much anything, but especially contract negotiations and double especially high end contract negotiations. You provide the media with what you want them to hear and the truth is way down the priorities list.

Point being, nobody here knows the truth and this report does nothing to change that.

And yes, I'm saying this and sticking to even though I know that if anyone was a big enough fool to be honest with the media it's Jerry/Stephen

Marino had the Dolphins competing for super bowls every year, Dak doesn't. Why even compare the situations? 30 years from now no one outside of the Dallas Fort Worth area will remember Dak Prescott. Marino, on the other hand, will still be spoken highly of. Everyone remembers QB's like Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Dan Fouts, Ken Stabler, Terry Bradshaw, Bob Griese, Bart Starr, Roger Staubach, etc, but Dak will be very forgettable.

And who knows maybe Dak will be for one who leaves?
+1 ....this is something getting overlooked a bit IMO. Hell, I would argue Dak is more part of the holdup than Jerry. I mean how often a top 10 QB, in his prime, gets a chance to at the open market ....... choose his team to the highest bidder? Some are saying Jerry is giving Dak one more year to prove whether he's worthy of an extension.....well maybe it is Dak giving the Cowboys one more year.

I’ll remember him as a QB we wasted a decade or more with.

You think he's finally going to get it in year 9? Year 10? I highly doubt it...
Why not year 11, 12 or even 13? Interestingly, no one is now questioning his ability to lead a team to the postseason. So yes, I think he can still get a Super Bowl. Maybe not with the Cowboys but ........

We are all in limbo right now waiting. It doesn't matter whatever side you're on.
....even so called "management"....

If they were 100% in on Dak, they would have giving him his 200 mill-ish guarantee contract already.
That would have opened up available funds for free agency / their own players.

Jethro made an investment and has yet to see that investment in live action.
This has to happen as it might open up a different direction for the franchise.

The money that Dak will make w/ his new deal is going to have a large affect on the cap no matter if it was 3 months ago or sometime in the near future. This anchor will weigh alot no matter when it drops.

Lance is on deck now and it's time to play ball.

The gambler awaits....

One thing with Jethro and company is what they claim is written in stone today disappears tomorrow.

Just more effort by hacks and the Front Office to generate publicity. clearly they believe the old Hollywood cliche that all publicity is good.

That only lasts as long as he can keep getting cream puff schedules.

Maybe. Maybe not.

But those expecting a “full blown rebuild!” Were never going to get it.

Do yourself a favor and look at the Free Agent QB class next year and the draft class. If you don’t get Ewers it’s a weak class. They aren’t wasting two years waiting for a QB.

They will wait. Sign Dak and Lamb to max contracts as they’ll be the last to sign. Nothing different was ever expected to happen. People thinking it will do not know this front office
Well said. For better or worse this is how the Jones boys have chosen to conduct business. I do take exception to the whole "mediocre" thing though. This team has won the division in 4 of the last 8 years and made the playoffs in 5 of 8. Only Zeke's suspension in 2017, Kellen Moore's stupidity in 2019 and Dak's 2020 injury have stopped it from being 8 for 8. But that's football. Crap happens. We would all love for it to be better.. but I would stop short of declaring it "mediocre." This team has been at least "good" for the last 8 years and there is reason that with Zimmer running a more physical defense and the Dak/McCarthy synergy improving, it can be better his year than it was last. Championship level? Who knows? But they have a lot of ingredients in place to continue to be a good team for a while. If another Mahomes shows up in the draft, fine get him and replace Dak.. otherwise.. um screamin my head off for Dak to keep getting better and for the whole damn team to show up in the playoffs, not just him.
