Gotta make room foe Dak, CeeDee and Parsons contracts

2024

Pollard - not worth the 12 million price tag
Gallup - can be replaced by a rookie - 9.5 million cap savingsl
Kearse - not that good anymore and we have replacements on hand.
Gilmore - I would rather not but we might have to- Bland has to get better on the outside to make this work.
J Lewis will not be resigned
I don't think we resign Biadasz unless it is a steal. Center should be our 1-2 round focus in the draft.
Tyron's last year is voidable - what will they pay him? He is still a top 5 LT in the NFL when healthy - may take an injury discount but not much.

2025
Demarcus Lawrence-he will be 33 - we have to find a replacement - could be a 2024 rework if we see a couple good years left
D Wilson- Loved him but has lost a step or has not recovered fully - not keeping him for a 7.5 million charge

I'd prefer to keep Gilmore if the asking price is there. You can't have anough good Corners and Gilmore/Diggs/Bland would be phenomenal.

I'd keep Biadisz for the right price but he'll get paid to go elsewhere. Tyron - I'd prefer to keep him but again price is a concern. Next year we have to pay Parsons, re-up Prescott (or not, that's another thread but let's assume he will be kept here). Gallup is definitely gone.

I think Gilmore will be priced out of Dallas but I’d love to have him here for longer. I also wouldn’t mind keeping Lewis if the price is right, which I think there is a chance it will be. I think Biadasz will be priced out and we will look for his replacement in the draft. Pollard and Gallup I agree with your assessment but I think Kearse is still a valuable player despite declining skills. I am always wary too, of replacing too many players on one unit. Will be an interesting off season for sure.

We keep Gilmore. I think he’s happy here and his veteran leadership has made a difference. Teams also need to keep as many quality corners as possible.

Disagree on D-Law. He’s performed very, very well. He’s a leader of the defense, extremely reliable and playing at a high level not just compared to the rest of the team but also the league. We’ll always be bringing in new D-Line.

I will wait until the season is over. But that is just me.
But it will be interesting to see how fans look at this and read their opinions.

I can see some aging vet players and if they have bigger contracts.
I can also see some will have players in the list that probably don’t belong either. As it is a matter of perspective.

We might keep Gilmore, but we might be better served letting him walking, finding a vet slot CB and keeping Bland outside

I think they let Pollard walk unless he is at 4-5 mil per. I think they may tag Tyler B at center and then draft a replacement in the 2nd or 3rd round. Gilmore is a tough call. I think they go CB round 1, regardless but if the price is right, I think they try to resign him to a short term deal. Kerse is more than likely gone. They will also be in the FA market for a LB if any are out there. They prob draft one in the later rounds regardless. Gallup is traded or cut. Tobert and The other Jaylen will be our 3rd and 4th WR next year.

I think Pollard might come back for 4-5 million on a short deal. There just is not a big market for RBs and while he has been solid, he is not playing at a Pro-bowl level.

I'm team building guy all year long, but even at this point in the season a lot of opinions can change depending on how some guys finish the year out, so I'll chilling going to far in on this topic, and enjoy watching games instead of speculating. But...

I will say, I'm ready to move on from JK, and put Bell or Thomas in that SS spot. Also, never underestimate having solid vets at CB like JLew n Gilly.

The CAP is expected to go up about $22 million by OverTheCap, but I am curious of that number is accurate. That would be about a 10% increase over 2023, but we have heard from many sources the CAP would increase substantially because of the new TV contracts. 10% is just a time bit higher than past year so my first question is, what will the CAP be?

If it is $256 million as projected by OverTheCap then the Cowboys are already $6million to $7 million over for 2024. This does not include their free agents. The can save some money next year by giving Dak a new contract, but $25 million of his2024 CAP hit is pro-rated bonus so maybe they can save $20 million or more but they would have to do more with the players they have before they can think about signing free agents.

Trading or cutting Gallup pre-June 1 would only save then $800,000 against the CAP.

The next biggest save for Dallas would be extending CeeDee. Giving him an extension lets them pay him out in Bonus and spread it out over his contract.

They can save a little extending Parsons too.

They can save $4 million is they cut Brandon Cooks and $2.5 million if they cut LVE, or if he retires..

My guess is they will look to extend Dak, CeeDee and Micah. The might get them to about $30 million under the CAP. That's enough to sign a few guys but it won't be like 2023.

If we get to or win the Super Bowl, the asking price for these rental players will go up substantially

The cap is a myth. I mean, certainly it exists, but it can be changed and manipulated in so many ways that any owner/GM who says it is a constraint is a liar.
