What does "retirement" mean? :muttley:

Something to be said about that, i.e. not ever using the word or "practicing" what the word means/implies.

To take my life experience... Years of hard work... $ investment... Building up a list of resources... Suffering through failure after failure– each teaching me valuable lessons, which I ultimately put to good use.

And toss all that away so I can sit on my couch and watch 3 seasons of "Game of Thrones" over a 48 hour period?

No freaking way.

seriously, this is the 2017 and 50 is the new 30 (i hope).
i was forced to retire in 2017 from an accident, at least temporarily.
after working 80 hour weeks for decades, i hope to travel the world next year (well parts of the world anyway) may be for a few years.

personally a big fan of cruises, and looking to live half time in asia/europe (winter, spring), summer in the north america and the rest on the boat.
while i never worked for the cruise industry, cruising has its advantages for those dont get seasick.
for example, there are boats going to asia in september and returning from asia in april for very reasonable prices.
that includes no jet lag, lodging and food and getting port-of-call previews of different port cities.
if i like asia enough, i may start a business there but would likely not work full-time again.
half-time is not bad.
here is an example of a ~15 day itinerary, with prices for one-way for 2 starts ta about $2500
fishing at the kodiak islands is supposed to be amazing...

One of my former assistant coaches is retired, he and his wife go on about 10 cruises a year. He waits til the last minute and pays about 100 buck each, when they are trying to fill the ship. He buys his tickets on vacationstogo.com or something like that.
