One of my former assistant coaches is retired, he and his wife go on about 10 cruises a year. He waits til the last minute and pays about 100 buck each, when they are trying to fill the ship. He buys his tickets on vacationstogo.com or something like that.
yes, it is a great deal if you live at a port where cruises start.
it used to be wait till cruise day, but now i think there is a 3 day rule that cruises have to be sold 3 days before.
think texas has one of those ports in galveston.
i prefer the long ones myself and they are also good deals because less people can afford the time and flexibility.
when i was working long hours, i basically telecommute from the boat.
it allowed me to catch up on paperwork without constant disruptions in the office...
though beware if you have dental issues as the boats generally have no dentist.
i took a long cruise and needed a root canal.
there was no dentist or even amoxicillin on the boat.
it was not possible to find a dentist in new zealand ports where we stopped.
by the time i got to sydney, my face and neck were all swollen up and ruin the last week of the trip...
