Brewster
Beat cleanly to outside by Frostee Rucker (#92) on his first play …Alex Barron was also beat and his guy caused kitna to fumble the ball.
On that play at the 1:27 mark of the first qtr.
Rucker was clearly pushed pass the pocket.
It was a win for Brewster.
Now Barron did get beat but Kitna should of been able to step up in the pocket. The ball seems to just slip out of his hands for no reason. Kitna's right arm was never touched. And at that point (when the ball came out) Barron's man was on the ground so better ball security by Kitna would of allowed him to make a throw if somebody was open.

Brewster playing LT…fell down on running play matched up against Pat Sims (#90)
This play is at the 9:57 mark of the 2nd QTR.
You describe it as Brewster falling down on a running play. To me this was one of his best plays it showed his quickness and agility. At the snap Pat Sims takes a HARD inside charge straight down the LOS, but Brewster is able to adjust and move down the line to get a body on him.... To me that was
A: a good read and move by Pat Sims B:
an even better adjustment and pick up by Brewster.

On next play Brewster failed to pick up stunt with defensive player getting in McGee face.
This play is at the 9:20 Mark of the 2nd QTR.
Brewster like he was suppose to kicks steps back at the snap there is nothing he can do about a Defensive player not engaging him off the ball when pass protecting.
His man stunted like you said inside trying to go around the guard and down the middle. The Tackle, Guard and Center need to work better at picking those stunts up. Brewster did try to slid over but before he can get over Mike Tepper is beat by his man and the defender has McGee in his sights while Brewster's man was caught up in the wash. The play ends with Brewster chasing Tepper's man from behind. Tepper and Brewster should handled that better as a tandem. Not a good play for Brewster.

On next play…Brewster picks up wrong guy (picks up the blitzing linebacker – who Choice should be picking up) allowing DE Michael Johnson (#93) to get a easy sack. Choice gives Brewster some words after the play.
This play is at the 7:56 mark of the 2nd QTR.
It's hard to say what went wrong on this play without knowing what the blocking call was. But for sure Brewster was not trying to pick up the DE on his outside as though it was not his responsibility and Choice did seem to say it was for him to pick up after the play. That said if you watch before the snap you will see McGee pointing out the MO (the blitzer) before the snap saying something. I don't know who was wrong could be either mans fault (Brewster or Choice) but one thing is for sure the team needs to work with the young guys on there blitz pick up in the coming weeks.
Again this play even if it was on Brewster was not a physical mistake it would have to be marked as a mental one and those are fixed with experience. I here people talking about how slow and fat he is but he did not play that way Sunday.

Failed to get his hands on DE Johnson who stunted inside and hit McGee as he tried to scamble.
2:58 Mark of the 2nd QTR. This was simply an
amazing move by Johnson. At the snap Brewster kick steps backwards and is in perfect position to pass block. In the mean time Scott Sicko who is lined up in the backfield appears to be setting up to chip him before getting into his pass rout. Like something out of the Matrix LB Johnson see this, stops on a dime before engaging Brewster and sprints around the guard to get in on the play late.
The way he stopped and changed direction reminded me of Reggie Bush's run in the Rose Bowl where he pumped his breaks stopped on a dime and changed direction. I am impressed that Brewster kept his balance and didn't break his ankles.
That was just one heck of a play by Johnson, not many LT's in the HOF could have done anything about that play. By the time Johnson got to McGee however he was already getting sacked by Geno Atkins.

Brewster is kind of opposite of Barron in that he has good base…but once defender forces him to go right or left he ends up reaching for defender because he lacks lateral quickness due to his weight distribution…notice I didn’t say size because Brewster is listed at 320 (same weight as Free who is 2 inches taller)…it just that too much of Brewster weight is in his belly..which really affects his ability to move laterally.
Brewster plays almost the whole game and by my count that is 3 plays that Brewster didn't play perfectly. And one of those is questionable, but because Choice seems to think it was his mistake I'll go with the veteran RB.
My thing is none of those plays show a lack of lateral quickness. Or Brewster coming out of his stance slowly. None of the sub par plays were a result of him not having the physical tools a good Tackle should have.
Brewster was not getting beat around the edge. They had to stunt
away from him to get pressure. Picking up those stunts comes with experience.... you find a guard that works well in tandem with him and those stunts get picked up all day. The team must of made some adjustments because the stunts were picked up much better in the 2nd half.
Brewster had a good game and looks like a good prospect at tackle or guard IMO. I have watched all of his snaps at least 6 times now and I'm still pleased with his play.
