I'd rather spend the money on the front 7 specifically the DL.

Regarding Revis - I'd prefer we went with younger FA's. Revis is more of a "we are one player away" type of a FA to me.

Yeah, he doesn't fit this mold here. Carr is our FA CB and we will probably part ways next year unless he plays up to the contract (very possible). Gotta give JJ rare kudos for not restructuring that contract...make it a pattern JJ! Walker's thread about living above the cap is the new way of the cap but JJ must realize when it is time to bite that nasty bullet when needed (resigning young talent...not paying for past performance).

I think this is why the DeMarcus Ware situation is what it is. You're looking at $17M in cap space next year without him. He's either going to reduce his cap number over the next 2-3 seasons via a new, separate contract or he's going to be playing elsewhere in 2014. We need that cap space next year for more possible restructures/accelerations/free agents/extensions.

This is the part that many fans are missing with that 15 Mil coming off the books (clean) in 2015; makes too much sense to hold our breath and let go...:D Ware will not be the difference in determining if this team makes the SB in 14; why the blind faith?

I think it's because we would rather hope that he comes back this year and returns to form to help bolster a pretty sorry unit.

However, I think Jerry, Jason, and everyone else understands that this defense is not one draft or one DT away from competing. We're kind of like the Seahawks were three years before they became good -- we have some CBs in place, some safeties we think could be special, and now we just need to get our front 7 life together.

I think that Ware will take the reduction in compensation because he's in the down-swing of his career and would rather finish it here.

Don't be surprised if he's available soon.

And he will be good on someone's team. Too much drama, too high of a cap number and not right for this team. I wish this team would just draft well and find good UDFAs. Seems each time someone is released (usually for a good reason) we all go "should WE look (sign, kick the tires, etc..) I understand it, but it seems exhausting.

I like Ware as a player enough to wish him well on his next team. What is the harm in that if he doesn't assist in building to something big (SB)? Unfortunately, he is NOT the last piece, and that is how the team should really look @ the Ware situation; a pass rush specialist who could take a talented team over the top; not to assist in a rebuild situation. That is what Rod is paid for. This team is betting on Romo being 100% (please!!!) and in the format JG has this team operating, the D is relied on only to hold teams slightly below our level of scoring. There is no consideration for the D's lack of talent, we are throwing punk!

I for one would be surprised ... Here in Tampa they will keep him or trade him.. But he won't be released .. Lovie will work with him and unlike Monte will design to his strengths ....
Bucs have a pretty large pr revis campaign in swing here ... He is probably in all likelihood staying... That's the buzz in Tampa

Besides, Revis is the only one who will make those new uniforms suck a little less

He has a QB's contract, making $20 million a season.......................that is just dumb to give a CB that type of contract......................he is not Deion Sanders.
