Denver was better than us on Sunday. And maybe the month of September. Lets all take a deep breath here. Remember last year going into GB the Cowboys dished out a beat down. GB went in the tank after that and lost a few more only to come back and make it to the NFC Championship. 2 games do not make a season. The Cowboys were thumped. Our society needs to quick over-reacting to such short instances of a 16 game season. GB lost 4 straight last year? That's an entire month of losing. Could you imagine some of these people if we lost 4 straight?

Yes but they have mike mccarthy and we have bozo the clown

Isn't the whole point of the hand-wringing that people thought this was an upper echelon team? If there are teams like Denver (with a QB like Siemian) on a whole different level, it becomes difficult to maintain that view.

There's plenty of season left to try to grow into being a Super Bowl contender. But what we saw Sunday suggests the Cowboys have a long way to go. The meltdowns we've seen on this forum since Sunday are primarily coming from those who thought we were a lot closer.

one thing is wrong is that all the offseason lots of media people in dallas and fans starting polishing the superbowl trophy talking about how this is a superbowl contending team when they lost players and have a lot of really young players and lots of expectation on a second year qb that right now is not able to fulfill them

I have come to the conclusion that maybe all this hand wringing about what is wrong with the team ignores one major point.

Denver is just better, period. They have better players, they have better schemes, they have better coaching, and the have a better front office/gm.

Maybe there is really nothing drastically wrong with this team, it's just not that good compared to other teams like Denver.
Eh, that argument may gain some legs after more games, but after coming off a convincing win week 1, and now sitting at 1-1, the jury is still out.

Everyone has an opinion, but the truth will come out after a few more games.

They might be better in some aspects, but the fact they handed the Cowboys the worst drubbing of the Garrett era does not mean they are a complete football team.

Their offense had no business doing whatever they wanted. Either they played way over their heads or our defense simply got exposed and the smoke and mirror games of Marinelli have been figured out.

It is way too easy to simply shrug it off as if they were whipped soundly by a team like the 1985 Bears.

I have a feeling at the end of the year, we won't be seeing the Broncos playing for a spot in Minneapolis.

It seems to be coming from the same folks who want to treat is as simply "a loss" too.

"Loss" doesn't effectively describe what happened on Sunday night.

They've always been better...they just won a Super Bowl in 2015 behind a noodle-arm QB on his last legs. We will never come close to having that type of defense.

It is more so the fact they try to be clever when at the same time they are playing right into the opponent's hands.

How many times do we have to read about what the opponent "dictates" or what they "give you"?

"Hey coach! The other team runs the ball well. What should we do?"

"Put an extra guy in the box once or twice, they'll stop."

They were better Sunday, for sure.

We've seen it before, though. What happens when you play a team once is not necessarily what happens when you play them a second time in the NFL. On to AZ now. If we see Denver again this year, we can worry about what to do about them then.

I agree with all of this except one thing. I do think we are on par, if not better, talent wise overall. There's a reason we were favored as the visiting team by Vegas. It sure wasn't because we had better coaching.

37-7

That was final score of opening day 1997 Dallas vs Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh finished 11-5 and hosted the AFC Championship Game, Dallas went 6-10 in 1997.

I don't believe Denver is that much better than Dallas.

Put the same game in Dallas and I would put money on Dallas

Or how about selling out for the run instead of abandoning it? Dictating to a defense instead of letting them dictate to you.

Why do they pay so much for those linemen?

Why draft a running back at #4 overall?

Why carry four tight ends?

Why carry four running backs?

Why carry a fullback at all?
Multiple likes. Additionally, it is like I have this inability to grasp that that was in fact, our offense at all...

We had come so far in always, as you said, dictating our terms on offense no matter the opponent or defense (8/9 in the box be damned)

Outside of the Steelers 1970s personnel and the 85 Bears magical defense, I expect to run the football with success and aint no current 2017 defense coming close to these 2 aforementioned defenses.

My brain still can't comprehend the offensive failure by every single players lack of execution.

Thank you for stating these foundational revelations that this current team is built upon.

If we don't utilize them, we are not even a 6 win team.

Last year, we lost to the Giants twice
. Nobody walks into Denver in weeks 1 or 2 and wins, and they have a tremendous defense. Our offense is going to look subpar until at least week 5 and possibly week 7, as has been obvious since the schedule came out.

Many fans don't seem wanna accept this. I think another poster mention they've lost only 1-2 games during this time since 2000. Think about that for a second. It's not like they've been a dominant powerhouse team since that time. I'm pretty sure as a few others have said the altitude had impacted our players more than we realized. Notice we never, and that's capital, tried to even establish a running of any sort ( pretty sure that had something to do with Zeke being pissed off ). It's like the coaches decided we couldn't run on this defense before that game started........whole game plan was odd, to say the least.

Your last 2 sentences sum it all up for me... I am "still" in a state of denial over it, even 3 days afterward.

Yes, the Trevor Simien led Broncos are better than us. Not sure how that is supposed to make me feel better.

They have better coaching.

They have better receivers and it's not even close.

Their running backs are underrated

Simion is underrated

Their secondary is the best in the league

They have the best pass rusher in football.

Maybe we just need to chill out and take the whooping and move on.
