By the way- I would like some stats that show which QBs do NOT do as well under blitzes as under regular rushes. I do not care who you are, a well done blitz is going to have an impact.
That's true. But a big part of the problem is our offensive design. Teams know that Witten is our hot receiver 90% of the time when they bring pressure from his side of the formation. A 3 yard option route to a 260 lbs guy going sideways is a win for the defense on third and 6. Witten is very unlikely to break a tackle if he is not going vertically up the field. Btw, this is the biggest difference in our offense and a Peyton or Patriot offense. They get the ball to people in space that threatens the defense. So much of the Giant and Packer big plays come bc they have vertical weapons in the slot.
If we win we get 8 yards. Play Beasley. Threaten the seam with Miles or a tight end. Don't pay a bunch of "weapons" and then commit to blitz beaters based on a 3 yard hitch. The tackles through two games have protected out of their mind and the technique for both is much improved.
The Rams have 8 good pieces on defense but have average to hot garbage safety play. Make them pay.
