How did Jerry create a stir? Lance comes in to replace Grier and hopefully improves to the 2 spot and maybe within a few years #1. There is zero stir here unless your Will Grier. The QB room definitely got better!
We can send Grier some tissues.

Gotta defend Dak....quick, find a voice that agrees with defending Dak and get it out there.....circle the wagons and defend Dak LOL
yep, all they see is a challenge to the great dak. We don't want to try to upgrade the position, we want dak forever. We just have to get everybody to carry trent prescott better. smh. why upgrade the weakest part of the team?

Looks like Jerry is trying.

I just want to post these numbers for 2024 so that people can see that the Cowboys DO have options next year:

POST-6/1 TRADE
2024
Dead Cap: $25,455,000

2025 Dead Cap: $36,460,000

2024 Cap Savings: $34,000,000

Is that a TON of dead money? Absolutely it is!

But if you think you’ve got ANYTHING in Lance after being around him for a year? Then you’ve got an incredibly cheap option to offset that dead money.

I have to think that the closer people look into things, the more they’ll realize how this trade at least gives the Cowboys sone OPTIONS.

They don’t simply HAVE TO give Dak another HUGE CONTRACT if he doesn’t EARN IT this year.

I think this is Jerry trying to improve that backup QB spot to the point that the season isnt a complete write off if Dak goes down, AND hopefully with MM’s tutelage of Lance to push Dak a little later in the year.

Rich Eisen is great thank god he escaped BSPN and it’s politically driven drivel.

For potential 1st round talent, I take that bet all day.
Tony Mandarich was “first round talent” along with Jamarcus Russell, Taco Charlton….and hundreds others who couldn’t play. It was a massive reach when they picked Lance at 3 and now looks even worse. Just because one team was dumb doesn’t mean the talent is there or the draft status was anything but a huge mistake.
This is also why I find it super obnoxious and comical that some folks (this is not aimed at you) tell people that other posters aren’t pro scouts and they should be quiet when we question their picks. Lot of posters here would have a better run at scouting than some paid scouts.

Rich Eisen making a lot of sense...

No threat to Dak anytime soon. Cooper Rush is the one who needs to look over his shoulder now. Jerry Jones is loving this hype deal for the cameras and the Cowboys coaching staff is building depth in the QBs room.

What say you?

Nothing to lose. Upgraded the backup qb with some upside.

Smart move for all parties.

49ers get a pick back for Lance.

Lance goes somewhere with zero pressure to be a starter. Can sit for two years and become the starter.

Doesnt always have to be negatives
Not sure how you quantify as a smart move for the 49ers...3 #1s and a 3rd. For 4 games (2-2) and a 4th...that's a terrible return on your investment.

It was simply an inexpensive opportunity to check out a young, physically talented guy at the most important position in pro sports. That’s it.

Like Eisen said… Dallas just liked the guy’s potential and they paid very little to see if he’s got anything.

It is comical that anyone (in the media or elsewhere) would act like this is a big deal. It isn’t. It’s a cheap look at a guy with some potential. People should act like it.

If anyone should be talked about making a bad move, it should be Lynch and the 49’ers. Three + number 1 picks. Horrible.

If Lance proves that he can play as well as Dak then I’ll shut up. But I don’t think he can play at all.
I think it’s a wait-and-see for everyone. He did have a 97% pass rate before he got hurt
