Gotta defend Dak....quick, find a voice that agrees with defending Dak and get it out there.....circle the wagons and defend Dak LOL
Typical response in the opposite direction. Calling Lance a threat to Dak is like calling the Cowboys signing CB Josh Butler from the USFL in July a threat to Trevon Diggs.

An extremely raw, 23 year old QB that started a grand total of 19 games at North Dakota State and four games in the NFL is not going to walk into the building and save you from the torture of having Dak Prescott as the quarterback of the Cowboys.

However he does provide fans with an anti-Dak agenda a reason to attack their keyboards the first time he throws an interception this season. Have fun.

Dumb move for us…
How is it dumb? They get a two year look at a 23 year old talent at the cost of a 4th round pick. If Lance misses so what? The Cowboys' recent 4th round picks include the likes of Josh Ball and Viliami Fehoku.

How did Jerry create a stir? Lance comes in to replace Grier and hopefully improves to the 2 spot and maybe within a few years #1. There is zero stir here unless your Will Grier. The QB room definitely got better!
he created a stir because what is the main story in the entire NFL upon waking up Saturday morning? Is it really a stir??/not in Dallas, but around the NFL.... yes it is.

When will you understand. Dak processes slow!

I'm calling it right now.

3 years from now, after never being able to get past the 49's in the playoffs, Lance takes over as starter and the Cowboys finally break through that barrier and destroy the 49's, on the way to a SB.

Wouldn't that make a hell of a story...

It really would be a story, unfortunately there's just as big a chance Lance is either a long term backup option (like a Marcus Mariota) or a starter in the CFL, USFL, or XFL.

I just like the fact the Cowboys are looking at improving depth. Rush is not a long term guy if Dak gets hurt again and we know Will Grier is, well, Will Grier.

Take a look at what he did last week.
This stinker?
Stats didn’t look terrible but the videotape looks pretty awful until the near the end which is probably where Denver had their PS guys playing d.

Yes, but you can see the upside. 3 scoring drives in the 4th quarter.

We should have given them a 2nd round pick since all we do is pick trash with ours...

Rich Eisen making a lot of sense...

No threat to Dak anytime soon. Cooper Rush is the one who needs to look over his shoulder now. Jerry Jones is loving this hype deal for the cameras and the Cowboys coaching staff is building depth in the QBs room.

What say you?

I say

1. No issue for Dak for now, hes QB1.
2. No issue for Rush this year. Hes QB2. Next year might be different
3. Trey Lance needs to learn this year. I would develop a short yardage and goaline RPO package for him but keep in back pocket until playoffs

Next year he competes in TC

Not sure how you quantify as a smart move for the 49ers...3 #1s and a 3rd. For 4 games (2-2) and a 4th...that's a terrible return on your investment.
It was simply an inexpensive opportunity to check out a young, physically talented guy at the most important position in pro sports. That’s it.

Like Eisen said… Dallas just liked the guy’s potential and they paid very little to see if he’s got anything.

It is comical that anyone (in the media or elsewhere) would act like this is a big deal. It isn’t. It’s a cheap look at a guy with some potential. People should act like it.

If anyone should be talked about making a bad move, it should be Lynch and the 49’ers. Three + number 1 picks. Horrible.
On Wednesday the 49ers informed Lance that Darnold would be QB2 over him this upcoming season. Lance then requested to be traded for a chance somewhere else.
Instead of keeping him to see if he might evetually get it going = "sunk-cost fallacy", the 49ers bite the bullet.
Got the best they could in return, and Lance gets to start over with another team.

Eisen says “ Dak will have a better year than last year “. Wow that’s profound . After 15 INT’s after missing a stretch of games one would hope a better year is in the cards . The Eisens Stephen A Smiths of the world are a waste of time .

Tony Mandarich was “first round talent” along with Jamarcus Russell, Taco Charlton….and hundreds others who couldn’t play. It was a massive reach when they picked Lance at 3 and now looks even worse. Just because one team was dumb doesn’t mean the talent is there or the draft status was anything but a huge mistake.
This is also why I find it super obnoxious and comical that some folks (this is not aimed at you) tell people that other posters aren’t pro scouts and they should be quiet when we question their picks. Lot of posters here would have a better run at scouting than some paid scouts.
I find it a little strange your emphasis on the importance of a 4th rd pick while not taking into account how this team has thrown away most of it's 2nd round picks on injury and character issues going back about 25 years or so.

The pure risk to reward from this perspective should make a simple 4th pick pale in comparison to Jerry's infamous 2nd round choice history.

It was a terrible trade up and a terrible pick. 3 first round picks plus a third.

But yeah, sure… they got a 4th round pick.

You are probably late to a few dances, the investment is minimal compared to the potential reward.

Agree.

No need to extend Dak for mega millions now.

Well played Jerry.
Dak will get extended, in 2 years MAYBE we see what we need to from Lance to take the job.. use your heads people, best case scenario this year is by week 10 Trey shows enough to move on from Cooper Rush.. I dont care how big your ABD syndrom is try and use some logic in your thoughts.

It does not matter how often you try having others consider Dak Prescott's likely extension. Back in 2017, I was posting how Jerry Jones' support for Prescott was likely to last for many years. Some members were countering Dallas would go with another quarterback by 2019.

There are two problems. First, Jones is Dallas. Second, some people think roster decisions will mirror what they think instead of hypothesizing what action Jones might take. Not considering these points will continue creating inflexible proclamations, resulting in eventual (and fully expected) exclamations of shock and frustration.
