They would audible out and burn you deep as soon as they saw that defensive alignment.
I meant from the 1 yard line but you'd still technically have 3-5 DB's on the field depending on LB's if it where further out.

I like it because I saw my Michigan Wolverines do it for a full year before I saw anyone else pro or college do it, and I got such a kick out of it. So I cant suddenly stop liking it.

if the runners forward motion is stopped at any point the they should whistle it dead and spot the ball there.
oftentimes the runner is stopped cold, and then others start pushing and pile goes forward.
That is part of the problem, on qb sneaks, and with rb runs.

Phil almost always does it to left of center, so who do they have there?
Hurts uses standard method, look for the gap and get low.
However since no whistle is blown if he is stopped, then the whole pile can be pushed forward after being stopped initially.
Hurts is often getting the 1st by himself, but if stopped short, the guys behind can push him forward.

Other teams should be able to do this too, but evidently they ( the coaches ) just are not smart enough to implement it.
It isnt rocket science lol So that is the only answer I see.
Sadly this includes the cowboys lol.
Landon Dickerson, a 335-pound guard next to Mr. Technique Kelce. Next to Dickerson is Jordan Malata, who admits to playing at 380 because he feels best at that weight. He does a 45-degree power thrust designed to push back any attack at the LG. It's well-designed to fit the personnel they have on the field. They plow the way for Hurts, who is freakish strong for a QB anyway.

There is zero skill involved with the tush push and it's so close to unstoppable it's really not fair. Because the QB is behind the center the offense can basically plow at least four players into two defensive tackles. The linebackers can't get low enough to do anything about it and basically roll off the top of the pile.

There's no competitive advantage for the defense here and the only way it fails is if the QB loses his footing somehow or fumbles.

It needs to be taken out of the game.

Agree 100%
The NFL changed the rule allowing the ball carrier to be pushed before the 2006 season. For 17 seasons it’s been within the rules, but when a team uses it to advantage now it’s a good idea to disallow it? You would “agree 100%” they disallow the forward pass if Kansas City was in the NFC East. Every team does not have Patrick Mahomes. How about adding weight to fast receivers if they are lighter than the average receiver? The fast ones should be slowed down. It’s just not fair unless, of course, you have the fastest receivers. Why not a rule that just awards the Cowboys enough extra points every game so they do not get out scored by any opponent? I’d agree 100% with that.

For the reasons CT Dak Fan mentioned, I totally agree with them. Borderline cheating IMO. Going way out on a limb with the forward pass ban comparison. You can have your own opinion.

A very simple solution to stop this play is not to let your opponent to have a 3rd or 4th down with 1 yard to go.

If the "tush push" was originally banned for being a health risk, perhaps it's best to ban it for the same reason. Let's see if the league is really concerned with the health of their players or not. Accordingly, the players should rightfully be allowed to decide this issue for themselves, imho.

The "tush push" play was never banned. What was banned was the ability to push a ball carrier forward.

This is where you get on a slippery slope if you ban that one speciffic play. You want to ban the play, make it illegal to push the ball carrier forward, and you will see the "tush push" play dissapear.

I think someone has mentioned it before here, all you need to do is look at the Reggie "Bush push" around 2005.

I was bummed out to hear Moose call it the “brotherly shove”, which narrows it even more to being an Eagles play.

Stay with “Tush Push” to keep this gimmick play where it belongs.
