Plenty of teams had a look at him before the draft.

He's not being hidden. He's just not ready to block against competition.

Rewatched game and Rico was brought in to help Green toward end of first half against Seau. So not completely absent, just no passes thrown his way.

What's it going to be then, eh?

He is one of the last players that I actually care about what happens to him.

It is no secret he is as raw as you can get, so there is no threat of him doing anything for a while.

I don't even know why we drafted him to be honest, other than fear for competing for an athlete in UDFA.

More evidence we aren't hiding him. The blocking is the huge question

It's pretty much unheard of to draft a guy who hasn't played the sport since middle school.

They might intentionally not play him most of the preseason in hopes of stashing him on PS. Don't give other teams tape to study.

Is there a team that could sign him nonetheless because they the depth? Just asking.

I guess it depends on when we cut him. If final cutdown, I still think it would be hard for any team to take a shot on such an unknown who has not played in so long. Roster spots are too precious IMO.

You're logic is very sound, but this is the NFL...someone is bound to do something illogical. I could see the Pats doing something like that or perhaps the guy in SF.

He won't stay on the 53. With us probably keeping 4 rb's and 3 qb's, we'll need the roster spot.

Oh please. The myth of hiding a player again
We do seem to have a lot of mythical players.
My thinking is that preseason games are as much for mythical hype as for easing into the season.
Every player at this time rededicates himself no matter how tiny his talents. It really is kind of touching.

I liked the part about it being "kind of touching" -- it appeals emotionally to one's sensitivities . . .

Don't see us keeping 3 qb's. Makes no sense. The 3rd qb would never be on active game day anyways. Just put Showers on the ps. If Romo gets hurt, then sign a vet if need be. We need that extra roster spot for DL help or TE (with the depth we have there, unless Escobar goes to IR).

How is it a myth? Especially for a player like Rico who has no college football tape. No team is going to put him on their 53 (if we cut him to sign to PS) without seeing how he does versus NFL competition.
I don't know, man. If he was good then they would just put him on the 53 behind Witten and Hanna. Escobar will start on PUP/IR, so it's up to Swaim to lock down that 3rd TE spot...and thus far, he looks like hot basura.
