Rico might be pricing himself out of the Cowboys budget. Would they tag him for a year? I would assume he is probably at least in James Connor territory with a new contract, maybe more if he can continue this pace for a few games.
This^^^but no tag

I'd agree, but I'm trying to think like Jerry. On one hand i could see him tagging him for a year like he did Pollard. On the other hand I could see him being very happy to turn a UDFA into a 3rd or 4th round comp pick.
I think Stephen is the one who believes he's a genius for letting every FA go for those sweet, sweet comp picks.

Then of course we can't sign another FA until everything is picked over so we don't mess up the sweet comp pick formula.

Dude shouldve been getting majority carries from the beginning, why they wasted their time on Zeke is ridiculous.

Dowdle has 152 carries, 731 yards at 4.8 ypc
They changed OL personnel and changed the run blocking scheme, that's what you're seeing now.

but but but Jerry wanted to see what Zeke can do and demanded MM to play him...

Jerry had an abundance of Zeke jerseys to sell and needed Zeke to just do it a little bit so he can empty his inventory
(the funny thing is he had abundance of #21 Zeke jerseys. they didn't print the #15 as it wasn't worth the investment)

Not gonna lie, I knew the RB position was going to be trash once they started saying "committee" all of that was to appease Zeke and there still doing it. Zeke has no business on the field for this team. Rico was hands down the best RB on the roster, and that was known in April, so why drag this whole thing out and suck for half a season running the ball.

Same with Pollard. Jerry Jones is loyalty over championships.

They chose to sabotage the offense by pretending Zeke was on Rico's level early in the season.

It's really that simple.
Zeke and Cook and Vaughn and Luepke and...I feel like I'm missing a couple.

Rico has played well this last few weeks. Its amazing how much quicker he is through a hole as compared to Zeke. That said, we need a speed back who can burn a defense.

It seemed to me like the offensive line was creating bigger running lanes after Beebe got hurt. Could it be Brock Hoffman is the better C? Maybe they should replace Martin with Beebe next year. Let Hoffman start at C.

I think people are overlooking the fact that the new guys are blocking better than the old guys. It's no coincidence that since an injured Zack Martin was replaced by Hoffman the last 2.5 games the running game has taken a huge step forward. I think if you look at most of the games before the change it was pretty bad all around. We learned very early that Zeke simply can't come off the bench. He has been unable to adjust his mentality to that role. Some guys can and some guys can't. Rico has earned his totes and is getting them and doing a good job with them. I have always liked the way he runs.. angry .. but now he's mixing in some jump cuts and breaking more tackles. And I absolutely love it. I think if McCarthy doesn't revert back to pass happy last night Rico was about to make a house call from distance. That Cincy defense was ready to be had.. Rico should have been close to 200 yards.. Our play calling was dumb.. (sigh!)

That logic doesn't make sense. He should be doing bad as a running back if everyone else around him is trash.

Dowdle has been excellent and is the biggest bright spot on offense this year. He is a really good running back who has improved each year. Whatever injuries he had seem to be behind him.

Honestly, not sure what else he would need to do to earn his spot for next year. If we draft a running back in Round 1 I am going to be very dissappointed- RB is the least of our issues.
I meant the other RB's we have are trash, not everyone. I agree that RB in the first round isn't necessary but I think they do need to take one somewhere in rounds 2-4 but then I guess we don't have a 4th anymore either.

I've said this at the beginning of the season, He needed to be the lead back from the get go.

We didn’t have the right offensive line combo like we do now playing, Rico is playing well but I’d still look for another option next season
