Rico Gathers video

I'll wait until he gets lit up by a linebacker or strong safety. Then we'll know.

He's a physical dude, I'm not worried about that. Will he hold onto it? That's a different question.

With his rebounding it looks like he could've done more damage on the Spurs last week than the Cowboys lol. Coordination shouldn't be an issue. I'm sure he looks a little awkward going through the motions bc he's not a football player. Once technique improves I'm sure he'll pick things up quick he's an athlete.

I can't believe he left school early and switched sports. That's craziness

I hope he has the drive of Antonio Gates because we've see many talents come and go.

That's the key. How bad does he want it? He's going to face a ton of failure from the outset. Can he fight through that? Hopefully he's able to make the active roster in some capacity in 2017.

Julius Peppers was a baller on the hardwood

Peppers was an excellent college bball player. Probably could've carved out a modest NBA career as a garbage-man type PF before the league effectively eliminated such players.

It's not like there's no vacancy for a TE candidate to develop within the Cowboys' roster. It would seem Gathers' greatest challenge is likely to come from the mental development aspect more than the physical one. Learning how to run routes correctly and picking up the blocking schemes will be demanding roles for him to absorb. Hopefully, he'll prove himself dutifully committed to putting in the required mental time, effort and preparation.

Dak is going to get a lot of playing time and it appears that Prescott and he are working together a lot so far. Rico was saying how much Dak has helped him.

TE is a lot to take in. He has to know a WR route tree and an OT blocking technique.

True, I think he will grasp the routs and show receiving skills the blocking will take longer.

Sure, but he also played football in high school and college. From what I can gather (get it?), Uncle Rico hasn't played football since middle school, if ever.

The odds are long, to say the least. Like others have said, getting hit and basically sucking while he's trying to learn at the highest level, it's a lot to overcome.

Rico is going to be so good that Dallas will start telling teams that they are going to use the Rico Act to beat them !!!!

according to his combine stats he had a 31" vertical. thats plenty to dunk a basketball at 6'6

Are you seriously comparing this guy to arguably the 2 best TEs in NFL history (as well as one of the best OLB/DEs)?
So now we have Gonzalez, Graham along with Gates... ALL of their last names start with a 'G' just like Gathers! Apparently we should have drafted this future superstar with the #4.

He's talking about a basketball players

That's going to be the real key. If he has the drive and ambition to be an nfl player he has the athletic ability. But it's going to take lots of work on the field and off to ever develope into a football player
