I only recall see Rico in the 1st half when they used 3 TEs on a play.

How many of these snaps were special teams? I fell asleep late in the game and we had 2 WRs I had never heard of catching passes but no Rico.

I believe he has no chance to make this team. These coaches have their buddies already.

I hope they start unleashing Rico. To me, for the few times he played, he made the best run block out of all TEs. That goal line performance to help Bo showed Rico is improving on his run blocking. Totally collapsed inward that left edge. Impressive. The other TEs have yet to block that dominating in any run play.

That game film review will net him more snaps.

Imo, it will be more telling how many snaps he gets next game. I mean, Swaim is the surest thing of the four competiors, and the difference between the two is negligible. I think this game's snap count had a whole lot more to do with how much more they've seen of Swaim and Gathers, and how much they want to assess Jarwin and Schultz. I'll be concerned for Rico's hopes if his count for Cincy is something less than 16.

Also, imo, I see us keeping 4 TEs, as has been fairly typical in the Garrett years if I recall correctly.

I'm not that certain, though, that these are the 4.

I honestly don’t get it. The optimistic side of me wants to think they’re hiding him to either 1.) sneak him through waivers again or 2.) hide his play packages until the regular season, but at this point obviously neither of those are true. The dude looks like he could be a 3rd down and short conversion machine like Witten, with run after the catch upside. For that alone I think he should make the team. The bits and pieces I’ve seen of his blocking haven’t been terrible, certainly lots of room for improvement but not terrible.

Those are offensive snaps, not including special teams.

I've been critical of gathers because he's really not done much if anything outside of preseason action, but I hope he continues to develop and get opportunities.

You can't develope if you don't play...You would think our staff would be getting him snaps to get some experience since this is meaningless football...but no....they plan on trying to stash him on the practice squad again....sneaking him through waivers.

I'm glad someone else noticed Rico absolutely obliterating that guy at the point of attack on the goal line to allow Bo an avenue to score. He will get kudos for that in the film room. Next game, I think they start to unleash Rico the beast in the passing game.

Thank you. I need to re watch and see how many were him blocking and how many were in the passing game.

The coaches hate him.

He'll make some other teams roster and we'll have our Geoff Swaim out there being the AVG player that he is.

Is that why they still have him back for his 3rd training camp - because they hate him?

I noticed him in on the goal line plays and he caught a pass late 4th quarter.

If other's are showing more potential and Gathers isn't, why would he get more snaps? Sometimes a player just isn't good enough.
