Looks as though our starting ride side is set with Free at RG and a very shaky, unproven Parnell at RT. Is J'Marcus Webb better than Parnell? Chicago released him and the Vikes quickly snatched him up.. .

Webb and Parnell are a wash.

Webb was a 7th rounder in 2010 and has done a pretty awful job despite starting 44 games over the past three years.

Parnell was a UDFA in 2010 who has been in 4 different camps (Saints twice) and has 1 career start.

Webb in two years younger (25) than Parnell (27).

Why is everyone assuming this? I thought leary is good to go, or will he playing for berny? IMO, smith, berny, fred, leary free should be starting. Pernell the swing.

I'm still holding out hope that Parnell can be a player for us.

I think the coaching staff believes the same and that's why they moved Free to guard to get him on the field.

Parnell is a better Tackle than Berny is at Guard.... That's why it's happening. It's not an assumption hence Darion Weems made the 53.... Doug Free is a guard now.... They need a swing tackle cuz Weems ain't cutting it yet, Berny as a swing Guard is right were he should be. Arkin as an emergency G is right where he should be as well. I don't know why they haven't grabbed Trueblood or Starks because both are head and shoulders above Weems to be your swing tackle. Starks may actually be a nice grab right now...

Yeah, they pretty much are a wash.

Webb was awful in 2011, but did up his game some in 2012... Not to a point where he was a good OT, but better.

Since 2011 Webb has allowed a QB sack, hit or hurry on 4.2% of the snaps he's participated in, based on 2252 snaps.

Since 2011 Parnell has allowed a QB sack, hit or hurry on 4.6% of the snaps he's participated in, based on 342 snaps.

There really isn't a big difference between the two... I'm thinking that the Cowboys believe Parnell has a higher ceiling that he can still reach where Webb has already reached his.

I agree, it's the one guy that has to be picked up if possible. Parnell is shaky at best.....thankfully we have a GM that has a proven History of Greatness.

agree.....I"ve seen the bears and webb play alot as I live in Michigan and his feet aren't very good and has no punch whatsoever. I believe Parnell will be better IF he stays healthy. We'll see soon enough. Wish we could have picked up Webb as a swing tackle....seemed like a better plan than keeping Weems......again: we'll see.

how does that help us right now?? Weems is not ready, if we want to be a playoof team and a contender you can't look at it that way.... they are both way better than weems and can be serviceable swing tackle for the next 2 or 3 years if needed.... then address then need again later....especially when you have a 23 year old starter and a 27 year old starter, if one of them get hurt and Weems has to play your 108 million dollar qb is going to have to run for his life again

If I had my druthers we would have a nice rookie 3rd or 4th rounder as a swing tackle.

But they (the Cowboys) must believe Weems has some upside to him to keep him around... And maybe he does... Weems participated in 183 snaps in the preseason and only allowed 1 QB hit and 3 pressures. He gave up zero sacks.

If push came to shove Free could move to one of the tackle spots and Bern could take over a guard spot.

To me, Free looked good at RT. Confidence back, more aggressive. We'd be better with him at RT and caving to Waters' modest demands.

Right now we likely roll with 3 guys who have zero nfl starts at their position in the interior

I believe once Leary gets back on the field then Free will resume manning the RT spot and Bernadau will go back to RG.
