After Defensive Scheme, the biggest difference over the last Decade is STs personel. .. maybe that will be enough to go above the .500 mark and win a playoff game...at least we hope so.

We are going over .500, and winning at least 1 playoff game, definitely

i dont think cyberbob is a cowboys fan, i'm getting the feeling he's a troll who roots for another NFC east team

No, like any fans that don't let emotion cloud reality, he can discuss team problems and bash them when it calls for it. Being a fan doesn't require that common sense has to go out the window when discussing the team. When emotions cloud your view on reality, it is homerism and it has no place in a real football conversation.

Definitely agree. Emotions get in the way of reality if you let them.

Ok, but everything reported up til that article says Parnell at RT Free at RG and Leary or Berny at LG..... I'm going to say they will play their 5 best and I believe Parnell is a better RT than Berny is a guard.... If I'm wrong ill write a post saying how wrong I am and how right you are... But I got a lot of faith in Parnell as the RT

Parnell at RT might be better than Berny at guard. I'll give you that.

I hope so -- I'm hoping for more. With Spencer, Ware, Romo, and Witten (basically the team's best 4 out 5 players right now) being 4 of the older (if not oldest) players on the team, I'm not sure the team can take a traditional 'work you way up' to a Superbowl approach.

if he does, which I highly doubt, it'll be after week one when contracts aren't guaranteed

Waters won't come in unless he's guaranteed something as far as a bonus goes.

No way would be accept a figure of say $3 mil (just an arbitrary figure) to come in with the understanding that he could be cut after one week and collect $200,000.

Saying Darrion Weems is just as good as Jermey Parnell? Saying Parnell is a bad player because he didn't beat Doug Free out last year out of preseason, while Free was being paid almost 8 million dollars last year, Parnelll got into a rotation with him late in the year. When a player makes 8 million bucks the team tends to give him a few chances to get his **** together before benching him, that doesn't mean Parnell is bad... None of those things sounded realistic to me.

We sure did. Literally single handedly cost us a season opener @ Washington. He is the worst player I've ever seen in the NFL in a Cowboys uniform. Other than Phil Pozderac.

I will never forget that game/play, went from jumping in the air and high fives on the TD pass, to cussing up a storm in about 30 seconds.

I think they can because Witten,Ware and Romo are at an age where I'd say they have another 2 or 3 years of solid production. Maybe not the type of production we are used to seeing from them but they are still good players that will produce. Witten and Ware are 30, DEs slow down a little bit around this age but he will still be around a double digit sack guy for the next couple years and Romo at 33 hasn't shown any signs of age yet.
But the rest of the team is young in the early or mid 20s, as they get better and add a couple pieces here and there they are in good shape to build for the future in my opinion. Look at the O-Line Smith (23)Leary(24)Fredrick (22) and Parnell (27). LBs too Carter and Lee are both under 25, oldest Reciever on the team is Austin at 29 beside him Harris is the next oldest at 25, and the secondary is a good mix of young talent and veterans. The only group with age is the defensive line, they need to get younger there and improve especially because I don't see anyway they can resign Spencer with their current cap situation. But I believe that puts us in good shape to contend now and add pieces in the next couple off seasons to stay relevant. I normally have my doubts about this team but I finally think they built a good football team. That's just my opinion doesn't make it right but that's how I see it.

I am worried about the whole OL

I am with you, we all hope it works out but I am terrified for Romo.

I think Tyron and Frederick will be fine but the rest is still a question mark and if we hit another injury bug, yikes!

On offense, we need Leary/Frederick to stay healthy and for Doug Free to be average/slightly above average. NO big injuries to Romo or Dez. A healthy Miles Austin would be nice for a change.

On defense, hopefully the front 7 can stay/get healthy, especially Ware, Spencer, Lee and Carter.

Our safety play still scares me until proven otherwise.

JG needs to manage games better this season. Period.

Hopefully the change of pace on offense will lead to more production/chemistry.

I think its possible we have the best set of 3 WRs we have had since TO was here. I think we might have the best OLine we've seen here since 2009. I'm honestly thinking that if Ware and Spencer can hold up at DE that we will have the best front seven we've had in a while. Scheme does matter, and I believe that Carter and Lee fit better in the 4-3 then the 3-4.

But its going to come down to what it comes down to for most teams. Does the QB make good decisions in tight situations? If Romo gets a little less consistent pressure on him I suspect that he will look better then he has in a few years. I do wonder how many crazy interceptions we have this year. It seems like we have a pick or two each year that makes one wonder how the heck does that ever happen. The int against the Giants a few years ago off of Witten's shoe comes immediately to mind.

Great post and I agree, but what I really want to know, is why did you use John Clayton as your avatar photo?

he's our starting RT, I don't know what you mean? Leary is the starting LG Free starting RG and Parnell starting RT. They have other options like keeping Free at RT and Berny at RG.... so to me it sounds like he won the job.

Why the hate on him, he's clearly a talented player, even last year he was a little raw but it's very easy to see his talent level. He's a little more polished now and I expect good things from him and Free both this year

Looks like your boy is going back to riding the pine, where he is belongs.

Lol, well I still like him as the swing tackle... But obviously with Waters in there makes us much better. I just wanted the best 5 guys out there and before today Parnell was one of them... Now he isn't so put him on the bench! I'm happy
